It's All About the Community

Despite the heat, classrooms were full of activity. Students and teachers spent a lot of time learning (or remembering) the different school routines. Teachers also spent (and will continue to spend) time developing a sense of community in their classrooms. The ConVal elementary schools are all dedicated to fostering classrooms in which the social emotional curriculum is just as important as the academic one.

To this end, we would also like to work more with families this year to create a bridge between home and school. This year we have planned three parent evenings during which we will provide caregivers of FES students information and tools on how to support their social, emotional, and academic needs at home. The first of these events will focus on our Social Emotional Curriculum and will be held on October 18th at 6pm. Childcare will be available. More information will be coming home about this soon, but I just wanted you to have the date so you could put it in your calendar.

District News

From the Superintendent

You may or may not have been keeping up with the news about the proposed consolidation plan that the School Board is developing. The School District needs your assistance and input. The District is looking for parents who can dedicate up to 8 hours weekly, for the next couple of months, to examine how we might operationalize a proposed consolidation that will appear as a warrant article for the community to consider on the 2019 warrant in March. If you are interested please email or call Kat.

First Day Paperwork

Please take some time this weekend to finish up that paperwork from the first day. If you have already returned that paperwork - thanks a bunch!

Lunch Time!

If you are planning on joining your child for lunchtime and would like to order a school lunch, please call Harriet by 9:30 am to order it and bring exact change to pay that day. Guests will no longer be able to charge to their child's account. An adult lunch costs $5.00 and an adult salad is $3.45. A child's lunch costs $2.35. This will be important to remember for our Community Lunches, which are the third Friday of every month.

If you are curious about what is for lunch, then head over to our website, scroll all the way down to the bottom left and there is a link for the lunch menus.
