The Spencer Scoop
Spencer Elementary October 21, 2022
Dear Spencer Families,
Families have flooded the classrooms this week as they met with their child's teacher during Parent-Teacher Conferences. These partnerships are essential for supporting students to achieve their greatest potential. The collaborative efforts between schools and families are the cornerstone of public education; thank you for your time and efforts to make this a priority.
Thank you so much for your support with student drop off. I received so many positive emails in response to my reminders and I appreciate the collective effort to ensure a safe and smooth drop off. There is one clarification that I would like to offer: 4th grade safeties may be dropped off and enter the building at 8:45 AM in order to complete their morning duties.
It is going to be a wonderful fall weekend. I hope you all enjoy it!
Take care,
Danielle Schmidt
Extra Change of Clothes
Parents - THANK YOU for packing a change of clothes in your child's backpack every day. Now that the weather is changing, please make sure that the clothes you pack are weather appropriate. This is for ALL grades, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or lose a tooth, or spill food on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have an accident. We have already had to contact quite a few families to come up with a change of clothing. If your student keeps a change of clothes in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we will need you to bring up a change of clothing. Thank you for your cooperation.

Lifetouch Picture Ordering
Pictures Coming Home Today!
Pictures were delivered to your child's classroom and should be coming home today! If you did not receive them, reach out to your child's teacher. If you have not ordered pictures yet, a proof of your child's photo will be coming home. You can choose to place an order online, or get the photo retaken on Picture Retake Day if you weren't happy with the original picture. We have had quite a few questions about picture ordering, the Picture Day ID has expired, you will now use the Portrait ID and Access Code which you will find in the proof and/or picture envelope coming home today. You can also use your student's School ID which is found in Parent Connect (also known as the Local ID). If you are still having trouble, please contact Lifetouch at 800-736-4753.
Picture Retake Day
If you aren't happy with the photo taken, we have Picture Retake Day scheduled for November 17th. In addition, if your child was absent on Picture Day, they will be photographed on Picture Retake Day.

As promised - the results of the Roadrunner Run are in! As a school, we raised nearly DOUBLE our goal of $12,500. Thanks to your generous contribution, and sharing your student's online donation links, we raised a total of $24,729.69! Wow!!! In keeping with our Roadrunner's Care theme this year, we promised a donation of 15% of each dollar earned above our goal to a charity of the highest earning grade level's choice. That grade level was 2nd Grade. They will get to choose a charity to donate $1,834.45 to. The class that raised the most money this year was Mrs. Bridson's kindergarten class. They will have a pizza party, get to decorate the spirit rock, and silly string Mrs. Schmidt! THANK YOU all for your contributions!
Next Thursday, October 27th, we will be hosting a Trunk or Treat! If you would like to participate by decorating a trunk, please head over here to sign up! We will have two food trucks (Tony's Dogz and All American Food Truck), some outdoor games, and of course lots of trunks! The PTO will be purchasing candy with the Halloween budget allocated at the beginning of the year, but we will need lots of candy donations to supplement. If you would like to send a bag or two in, please do so at any time. We will collect them from the office daily.
Also next week, our MOD Pizza Dine-Out night! Join us on October 26th for a dine out night benefitting the 4th Grade Farewell Party. Come on out and let someone else make dinner for you!

Counselor's Corner
I am so excited to continue working with students this year to help facilitate and promote growth and learning! I am providing classroom lessons, small group activities, and individual support this school year.
As a reminder, your school counselor is here to support children in all areas of mental wellness that impacts their success in the classroom. We work with individuals as needs arise. If your child is struggling at school, we will work together with the classroom teacher to determine whether or not school-based services would be beneficial. We may also be able to offer resources or contacts if your family believes that outside support will best meet your child's or families needs.
The Elementary Counselor Team also has the BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have, and I will do my best to support your child.
