Evening Street Weekly Update
May 26, 2021
Principal's Message
Today, we held a ceremony for our exiting fifth grade students at the Thomas Worthington High School stadium. Parents and grandparents attended to support the children. The speeches given by our students were remarkable. Students spoke of learning to be resilient, learning how to cope with isolation, and realizing the importance of kindness and compassion. I was so proud, I could not help but shed a few tears, they got to me!
You give your children the best gift a parent can give a child, the gift of being an Evening Street Eagle. While the staff deliver a strong academic program, they teach children what it means to be part of a loving and caring community. Thank you for sharing your children with us and allowing us to do this amazing work - pandemic or no pandemic. See you opening day, August 18, 2021.

CLAP OUT 2021
We will be welcoming Mr. Norris to the teaching staff. Many of you witnessed Mr. Norris' dedication as custodian and as lead teacher in the Care After program. His hard work and dedication has now earned him his own classroom.

FLIPGRIDS LAST CALL!!!
Summer is for Slip and Slide, NOT a Summer Slide!
Parents, you have partnered with us all year and we couldn't be more grateful! As we look to the summer we need your help combatting the "Summer Slide" or regression that can happen while we are away from school. We are so lucky to have the Worthington Libraries to help us keep students reading. For math, students have access to ST Math until July 31st. During the year we aim for students to play ST for 40-60 minutes a week. For the summer, ST's research says we should aim for 50-70 minutes a week. Please read this article, Keep Kids Learning This Summer with ST Math, for ideas to help your child to keep learning and growing over the summer! Oh, and don't forget writing! Encourage your child to write a letter to a friend, relative or past teacher. Have students make a list, journal about their summer activities or start their own comic! Just a little practice can go a LONG way! THANK YOU and enjoy your summer!!!
