Report Cards Came Out Last Friday

Virtual College Fair for Students - Nov 14th - 19th

Students are invited to a free virtual college fair for the Southern United States! Students can log on any time during this week to get information from many colleges. There is a question and answer section for the students to get answers directly from college representatives.

Students must go to to the students tab to register ASAP, and they will receive a reminder e-mail. This service is completely FREE. Choose the South Fair when registering.

Good Job, Avery!

Congratulations goes to Avery Bullock for receiving the Sophomore of the Year Scholarship from the Kiwanis Club. Avery was selected last year to represent Weatherford High School in the essay competition and won a college scholarship for her winning essay in the Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis.

Optimist International Essay Contest

The Optimist International Essay Contest is now open and the District first place winner will be awarded a $2,500 college scholarship. This contest is open to all students who are under age 18 on October 1, 2016. The topic of the 700-800 word essay is “Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges”. Students will also need to include a copy of their birth certificate with their application. Students can pick up an application for the essay competition in the Counseling Center and the deadline to enter is December 9, 2016.

Donate your unwanted book through November 15th at the WHS Front Office.

Then join us for a Free Community Book Swap on November 16th during MegaLunch and after school from 4-7 pm in the WHS Library.

Canned Food Drive - November 1-18

Communities in Schools Office is hosting a canned food drive to benefit Manna Storehouse. Please bring canned foods or non-perishable items to the Communities in Schools Office (G219). All donations will be given to Manna Storehouse to be given to families in need especially during this holiday season. Come inside the classroom when you drop off your donation and enter your name for a drawing for a gift card. WHS September Staff Member of the Month: Reca Moran

Mrs. Moran is dedicated to her students and to serving the staff at WHS, she goes above and beyond to help make student successful. She works hard and is always smiling.

WHS September Teacher of the Month: Patricia Hoffman

Mrs. Hoffman teaches in our Health-Science Department. She is hard-working and puts in lots of extra hours to ensure her students have all they need to be successful. She is always up for a challenge and it is easy to see she truly loves her job.

WHS October Staff Member of the Month: Courtney Patterson

Mrs. Patterson is a dedicated member of the WHS Pass office, each day she problem solves and helps students find ways to be successful. She is optimistic, caring, and willing to do anything to help all students succeed.

WHS October Teacher of the Month: Terry Ferguson

Mr. Ferguson teaches in our Social Studies Department. He is a great leader at WHS and treats all staff and students with kindness. He works hard to deliver instruction that is engaging and help all students be successful!

Seniors: Be sure to check out the new scholarship website – E-Scholarships USA. Go to User name: weatherford, Password: weatherford

Sophomores and Juniors: The Project Opportunity Scholarship is available for WHS students with financial need who are planning to attend Weatherford College. The scholarship provides up to $5,000 for tuition, books, and supplies for two years and is made available by the Project Opportunity Foundation. Students must be sophomores or junior to apply and the deadline for juniors to turn in their application is December 1, 2016. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.
