McKinley Elementary School
Weekly News--October 11-15
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the month of October! Our classrooms are buzzing with learning and our students are filling our Bulldog Buck tower in the office each week. We are more than halfway to our schoolwide reward. Keep being safe, responsible, and respectful!
October 21 is the Great American Shakeout. We will have an earthquake drill this day at school. Please review earthquake safety at home with your child as well. Use this link for more information: https://www.shakeout.org/california/
As part of the LCAP for Susanville School District and to help us review our program here at McKinley, we need your honest opinions. Please use this link to complete the California Healthy Kids Parent Survey. This survey will be open until November 19. Our staff and School Site Council appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback.
This is the last week to send a "Boo-Gram" to your child, your child's friends, or even the whole class. Our PTA is also hosting a Trunk or Treat on October 29. If you would like more information, please read the PTA information section of this newsletter. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or message the PTA on their Facebook page.
Hope you had a great weekend!

Mrs. Carolyn O'Brien--Kindergarten
Mrs. O'Brien has been a teacher at McKinley Elementary for 15 years. Prior to that, she was a substitute teacher in Susanville for 5 years. While most of her teaching experience is with our kindergarten students, she did teach 4th grade for one year. Mrs. O'Brien loves to teach letters and sounds to help our kindergarten students become readers. She also enjoys teaching numbers and counting so that our students will love math! Mrs. O'Brien says, "I love to be with the children. They are quick to give hugs!" Our students, staff, and families, all appreciate the warmth Mrs. O'Brien brings each day!
