From the Principal...

Hello November!

I can't believe we just completed our 1st quarter of the school year already! Time sure flies when we're having fun. As we begin the 2nd quarter, I'd like to share with you some of the things I am most thankful for at BRMES:

  • Our School Family ~ what great kids, staff, and families we have.
  • Outdoor Learning Opportunities ~ the outdoor classroom, walking & bike trail, frisbee golf, walking field trips, and all of the adventures with MOSS in the forest around the school.
  • Volunteers ~ so many of you giving so many hours to help at school.
  • PTA ~ record number of members, another successful Tortoise & the Hare, and a t-shirt contest and the Craft & Food Fair coming soon.
  • New Programs/Ideas ~ Eagle Pride Assemblies will be monthly to gather in the gym as a school to set goals and celebrate, our art & Spanish programs, and Ms. Meg and Ms. D's kindness work. We also love our 5th grade leadership clubs and have a new All-State Honor Choir!

Take a moment this month to appreciate what you are most thankful for and enjoy the joy of learning with your child(ren). I am especially grateful for your continued support at BRMES!

Cereal Drive {Nov. 7-22}

We will be doing a Cereal Drive for our local food bank from November 7-22. We welcome any cereal donations during this annual food drive. Our 5th Grade Student Council will work with our local food bank to deliver the donations.

Music Program Update 19-20

This year we were able to add a new music teacher to our school with the addition of Mr. Vance. We have decided to create new traditions with more music performances. There will be no December performances this year. Instead, we hope you will enjoy the many other musical opportunities in our community.

The 2019-20 BRMES Music Performances will follow this schedule:

Kindergarten: Graduation Program (May 2020)

1st Grade: Spring Play Performance (May 2020)

2nd Grade: Classroom Plays (May 2020)

3rd Grade: Outdoor & Camp style performance (May 2020)

4th & 5th Grade: Joint music performance at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 12th

We are excited about these changes in our music program and the new learning opportunities they provide our students at BRMES.

Our Counselor, Mr. D.

Mr. Davydov (Mr. D.) is our school counselor. He works with students to ensure they are enjoying school and accessing their education to the best of their ability. By utilizing a comprehensive Response to Behavioral Intervention (RTBI) program that is bolstered by an evolving Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) system, Mr. Davydov is able to help parents, teachers, and students make data based decisions to successfully accomplish students' social emotional goals.

Check ins with students, group and individual counseling sessions, and classroom discussions are some of the activities that Mr. D. uses on a regular basis. Counseling sessions can include training in friendship skills, anxiety mitigation, executive functioning, divorce or grieving issues.

Contact Mr. D. at ydavydov@mdsd.org for any counselling needs.
