Essential Question: How do friends depend on each other?
Last Week:

We also described how characters responded to major events in the story.

Homework:
Choose one menu item each night or create your own activity and write what you did in your spelling notebook. On Thursday have your child/children practice their spelling words to prepare for the test. While preparing for the test have your child practice writing several of the words in a complete sentence.
Test:
The spelling test will consist of 5 words from the spelling list given, 2 words that the students will apply new and old skills, and 3 high frequency words from the list given. The words are graded for accuracy and capitalization. The students are also required to choose one word from the test and use it in a meaningful sentence. The sentence is graded for CAPSS (capitalization, appearance, punctuation, spelling, and sense).
Writing
Last Week:
We continued to work on our first writing piece (personal narrative) by adding details to our stories to make them more interesting.
This Week:
We will learn how to revise our writing by adding, deleting, and changing words. We will also learn how to edit our work using a CAPSS (capitalization, appearance, punctuation, spelling, and sense) checklist.
Health
Last Week:
Ms. Patrick (intern) taught the wrinkled heart lesson. The students learned that unkind words can wrinkle a person's heart. We found out that no matter how much we apologized and tried to smooth out the heart, it was never like it was at the beginning. Then we signed a large heart to promise to do our best not to wrinkle someone's heart. The quote on the heart says "Before you speak think and be smart, it's hard to fix a wrinkled heart." Next time you come to visit you will see our large heart hanging in the classroom.
This Week:
We will learn about our feelings and emotions and how to deal with all emotions in a healthful way. We will also discuss the characteristics of a friend and them importance of showing respect.
