What is an IRP?
IRP stands for Individualized Reading Intervention Plan. Classroom teachers will be going over these during parent teacher conferences.
What determines a student’s placement on an IRP?
All students in grades K-5 are given the Fastbridge Screener three times a year. Students in grades K-3 whose scores indicate they may be at risk for reading difficulties are placed on an IRP.
Why are students placed on an IRP?
The state of Wyoming mandates districts use an approved screener to collect data on students who may be at risk for reading difficulties so early intervention may begin.
Early Reading Intervention accomplishes several goals:
Appropriately targets instruction to students who are at risk for reading failure to eliminate skill deficits.
Identifies students who need additional support and services beyond instruction and leads to assessment of reading problems before these issues become severe.
Addresses the literacy development of English language learners to ensure that they are making sufficient progress.
If you have questions about any of this please reach out to the staff of Glenn Livingston Elementary.
