Big picture

Tuesday, January 8th - Thursday, January 17th

We are excited to partner with Booterthon for our 2nd year in a row!!!

Plan to join us in the MPR on Tuesday, January 8 @ 6pm to meet Jammin' Anna and the Boosterthon team who will be spending time with your students daily leading up to our Fun Run on January 17th. Jammin' Anna and her team will be sharing a sneak peak at the "Mind Spark Mystery Lab" Adventure that your students will be participating in and we will have some student volunteers give you a peak at the fitness routines too!

On January 11th we will begin our quarterly principal chats. This will be an opportunity for us to further connect, learn, collaborate, and celebrate together. This quarter, we will meet at 8:15-9:00AM in the Media Center. We are planning to share more about what Digital Learning looks like at PES and platforms to familiarize yourself with.

If you have anything that you would like to learn more about, please submit an online request to be discussed during #ConnectWithMissFisher. You can also email them to

Next quarter will be an evening session.

AIG Screening Window

The AIG screening window is now open and ends on January 11. Any teacher parent, or guardian may refer a child for AIG services. Most AIG students are identified in third grade. However, it is possible to identify younger students who are performing two or more grade levels above their peers. We do not screen students in second grade because testing them in that year invalidates the testing that all students do in third grade. Please read the information linked below and contact Ms. Jacob, our gifted education specialist, for more details about the screening process and criteria.

AIG Screening Criteria

PES Young Authors

PES is accepting original stories written by students in grades K-4 for the Chatham County Schools Young Authors writing program. Each year all student authors are invited to write, publish and submit their own book. Judges from the school staff will read and reflect on each book. All students who submit a book for Young Authors will be recognized during school wide celebrations in the spring. A small number of student books will be selected to be recognized at a district wide celebration at Fearrington Village scheduled for Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at 5:30pm.

2018-2019 - Submissions Due to the school library by Friday, January 18th, 2019!

Questions or comments should be directed to Karen Jeremiah, PES school librarian, Feel free to visit the library to see examples of Young Authors books from years past. Information page here
