"Ferguson and Faith" - Sept. 30th
The killing of Michael Brown in August 9, 2014 sparked a national outcry for racial and economic justice. Out of this tragedy came a new generation of Civil Rights leaders. Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, activist and professor at Eden Theological Seminary, will discuss how faith leaders from St Louis and beyond have responded to this call for justice. What role can all of us play in the struggle for justice in our communities and beyond?

"I'll be there because ...
... I want to see our community Healthy and Whole."
... The church needs to speak to this issue. We can change things."
... That's where Jesus would be."
... Too many people are dying early of diseases that can be prevented."
... I want to weave exercise and better diet into our youth group."
... Many of our kids are headed for diabetes and heart trouble."
... I want to join other faith communities to make our county a healthier place."
... I'm looking for enjoyable things we can do to help people live healthy lives."
... We can't get West Virginia off the worst health lists without the churches."
... God gave us wonderful bodies, and it is service to God to care for them."
... if we work together, we can make a big difference in West Virginia."

INTERSECT: Diversity & Leadership Conference
Participants will engage in dialogue, reflection, and training through keynote speakers, workshops, and lunch and learns. The conference pillars work to inspire participants to create positive change for the common good in their organizations and community.
Conference Pillars
Oppression, social change, power & privilege, and organizational development are the four pillars of the Intersect Conference. These pillars were chosen because they represent the intersectionality of leadership and diversity. Our understanding of these concepts will not only inform our understanding, but also our ability to engage in meaningful conversations and behaviors.
Registration fee is $50. Registration deadline is October 30th. More information about the conference here: http://www.elon.edu/e-web/students/multicultural_resources/conference/about.xhtml
