Young Women Got Work and New Transportation Systems
Women Working?
Women received work from textile factories. They where young unmarried women that came from local farms. Working at the mills was going to make the women gain their own money. This would also make them gain their independence by buying their own things and taking care of themselves.
Young Girls Working Instead of School
Girls also worked in the Lowell Factories. They needed to stop their education for work.
Lowell Factories
Merchants made more factories near rivers or streams. They also bought machines that helped the procces to go faster.
Working Conditions
The mills has awful working conditions because many people died working. Some fall of high places and others got killed by the train.
Transportation Methods
New transportation was introduced in the 1800's. The train and steamboat helped cities grow and helped people travel faster. While the steamboat did for water the train was handling business in land.
Trading
Both of these methods of transportation helped trading in the 19th century.
Steamboat
Steamboats were use to travel trough water.
Train
Trains where use to trade and travel overland.
