WE ARE LOVE!
NOTICE: The NISD Call Center will be calling families to determine what needs you have. Please answer their phone calls to let us know how we can serve you during this time of remote schooling!
Weekly Lessons
This week, your children received their first set of remote learning plans! While this is an unusual time, it is also exciting and a little scary! Here are a few reminders about our plans. NISD's remote learning plan will run on a Sunday-to-Sunday basis. By 3pm Sunday afternoons, teachers will email and post lessons in Google Classroom and/or in Seesaw. Sundays were selected district-wide, so that families can plan out their child's learning time for the coming week based on the unique needs and circumstances of each family. It also gives students and families time to complete lessons during the following weekend, if doing so would best meet the needs of the family. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or need assistance.
Additional information can be found at NISD's iNvest2Learn site!

Counseling and Support
As we work to navigate through this difficult and uncertain time, Northwest ISD will continue to invest in the social and emotional well-being of our students and staff and will assist NISD parents/guardians in promoting the positive well-being of the family. On the NISD Counseling Support Page, you will find helpful videos, tips, activities, and links to websites to help guide and support NISD families through this time. Our goal is to support the holistic well-being of our students during the COVID-19 crisis. For more information, visit the NISD Counseling Support page or email Counselor Becki White at bwhite@nisdtx.org.

Good to Know FAQs
Lexia
* The link to Lexia in the portal is "Core 5."
* Students have a number of minutes assigned, but parents should also look at units completed. Each unit takes 5-7 minutes to complete.
Supplemental Resources
* In order to meet student needs, the curriculum department has linked lots of supplemental resources. It is not necessary for parents to print everything available. The most important lessons are those for weekly submission.
Paper Copies
* For students needing to complete paper work, we understand the added time required to submit. We will not penalize for late work with paper submissions. The district office is handling all paper copies.
Grading Guidelines for Remote Learning
* All grades will be Pass or Fail. If a student does not meet expectations on an assignment, they will be given feedback and reteaching from the teacher. They will then be given a chance to resubmit.
5th Transition to Middle School
* Middle school counselors are working on plans for virtual course selection, and Mrs. White will be scheduling meetings soon to help with scheduling.
*While not all end of year activities will be possible after May 4th, we are committed to celebrating our 5th graders as they transition to MS. More to come.
Yearbooks
* Purchase your yearbooks HERE. If you purchase by April 5th, you get a free two-page customized photo spread.
Zoom and Privacy
* Remember that to protect student privacy, photos and video recording is not allowed on Zoom or other remote learning platforms.
Phone Calls
* Please be aware that teachers may try to reach out using their personal phones. If you receive calls with No Caller ID, please be aware this could be someone from the school trying to contact you.
