Hashtags
Communicate and use unique school hashtags:
A FEW MORE TWITTER TIPS
- Create class hashtags (#SullinsAPCalc; #SullinsAPCalc2A; #SullinsAPCalc3B)
- Search hashtags to find experts on lesson topics
- Collaborate with other classes (school; district; state; country; world)
- Create lists
- Tweet a picture and tag up to ten people/handles
- Why do some tweets have a " . " at the beginning?
TWITTER POLLS
- Twitter polls are limited to two answer options only.
- Polls have a lifespan of 24 hours.
- Tweeters are informed of how long is left to vote, how many people have voted, and the results in percentage.
- How you voted is not shared publicly.
- Once a poll is completed the results can be viewed publicly.
- Let students vote on classroom activities.
- Request lesson feedback.
- Make predictions.
- React to real time events.
- Gather opinions from current events.
- Make a "just for fun" poll.
- Embed polls on other platforms (website, blog, etc.)
If you want to get your poll some extra attention you could pin it to the top of your timeline – this is a great way to get some extra votes in and also display the results of your poll.
Twitter Chat
A Twitter chat is a structured conversation on Twitter. Typically a moderator tweets out questions for participants to respond to. The key to a Twitter chat is that everyone uses the same hashtag on every tweet/reply. This allows participants to engage in a collaborative conversation and for others who may not have participated to view responses after the live session.
You can find days and times of educational Twitter chats at https://goo.gl/1uqQEv.
Follow the Company
Another good way to learn about a new application is to follow the twitter handle of the company that makes the application. And don't be afraid to ask the source directly!
