Gender and Identity
Exploration of young white male
Identity:
In the play Twelfth Night, the character Antonio is a kind man. He will protect anyone he loves this quote shows this perfectly "Put up your sword. If this young gentleman
Have done offence, I take the fault on me.If you offend him, I for him defy you"(Act III scene iv) pg 14. Even though it was really Viola he thought it was Sebastian and wanted to keep him from harm.He also used to be a pirate and he still owes to Orsino's court. Antonio is a very caring man when he found Sebastian he was recently came out of a ship wreck and Antonio nursed him back to health.
Gender:
Most males are expected to be tough, strong and show no emotion. I think that I am opposite of most male stereotypes. I am not very tough or strong I am all around not very athletic like some males are. Some people think that males are brave well I am not brave.
Perception:
I believe that other character in Twelfth Night see Antonio as kind, loyal and maybe a horrible man. Sebastian see Antonio as a kind and very loyal friend. While Viola thinks he is a horrible man this quote would explain her hatred to him "I know of none,Nor know I you by voice or any feature.I hate ingratitude more in a man.Than lying, vainness, babbling, drunkenness,Or any taint of vice whose strong corruption Inhabits our frail blood—" (Act III scene iv) pg. 16.
Similarities and Differences
A difference is that I am not very brave. Another difference is that I do not face my problems straight on.
