Did You Know? - Servicing Your Students Online
We understand that students may experience heightened feelings of anxiety, stress, loneliness and frustration related to online learning. Social and emotional development is one of our type priorities during this time and we plan to help students in a variety of ways. Here's how we are helping:
1- One on one counseling through Zoom
If your student is in need of one on one support, their grade level counselor can help. We commonly work with students in helping them develop coping strategies, goal setting, organization skills and any other supports that are specific to your student's needs.
2- Lunch Bunch/Groups
This pandemic has kept many students in isolation and we want students interacting socially! The counseling department plans to facilitate various lunch bunch groups where students can interact with their peers who they may share interests with.
3- Mindful Mondays
Every Monday from 8am- 8:45am, your counselors will deliver social/emotional lessons that include topics related to self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship building and responsible decision making- just to name a few. We also hope to get feedback from our students, teachers and parents for more topic ideas. Direct your student to their grade level counselor's canvas page for the zoom link.
4- Community/Driveway Visits
We want to try to interact with your students in person! If you are comfortable with your child's counselor visiting your home for one on one support, please let us know. The wearing of masks and social distancing will be enforced.
5- Resource Sharing
As always, this newsletter as well as other resources will be posted in each counselor's canvas page. Articles, helpful videos, PowerPoint slides and anything else that we find that may be helpful for both parents and students related to mental health.
