Health Update

As Vermont begins to open back up, we must still be mindful of important practices that will keep our community strong and healthy. A few key reminders:

Masks

While people who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear a mask or maintain a 6-foot distance from others, there are some exceptions, including in schools.

Travel

Travel to and from Vermont no longer requires testing or quarantine. (Rules for visitors from other countries are different. Learn more about international travel.)

Gatherings

Indoor gatherings: There can be one unvaccinated person per 50 square feet up to 300 unvaccinated people (whichever is less), plus any number of fully vaccinated people.

Outdoor gatherings: There can be 900 unvaccinated people, plus any number of fully vaccinated people.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

We loved the action of the BASH auction, especially when spouses engaged in bidding wars!

We surpassed our goal and YOU MADE IT HAPPEN! The proceeds from BASH 2021 will help our band program with equipment, our classrooms with technology, and families with tuition assistance. All that is made possible thanks to the generosity of our awesome sponsors and your spirited and generous bids! THANK YOU!

Did you lose your item to a higher bidder? Did BASH just pass you by? You have a chance to make a cash donation as part of this event at https://www.bjams.org/support-us/give-online

Summer Meals Information

To ensure that children who rely on free or reduced-price meals at school are able to get the nutrition they need, the USDA is working with states to continue providing meals to students. Usually, the rules require that children gather and eat their meals on site. However, due to the exceptional circumstances of this public health emergency and the need for social distancing, the USDA was able to make temporary changes so that meals may be taken home, and parents or guardians may pick meals for their children if the state allows. Families can use this tool to find directions to nearby sites as well as hours of operation and contact information. Click here: Find Meals for Kids When Schools Are Closed - USDA-FNS

The Vermont Foodbank is excited to announce the launch of Full Plates VT. Full Plates VT will distribute food boxes, made up of produce and other fresh and shelf-stable items, at drive through style distribution sites throughout all fourteen counties in Vermont. The program is currently scheduled to run from June – September, 2021. New dates will continue to be added to the registration website so please continue to check-back for new distributions. A Message from Major Moore (Solie's Dad)

Mrs. Semprebon's class made cards for Major Moore (Solie's dad, gr. 4) and he sent them this special message. Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for Major Moore's service to our country and for his safety.
Thank you from Major Moore

Our PTO is the BEST!

A big thank you to our generous PTO for securing this amazing opportunity for our students this week! We had a blast with Circus Smirkus! A special thank you to Michelle Hines-Tomlinson for coming in to make sure everything was set up and sanitized between outdoor classes!

The students had a grand time! A huge thank you to Circus Smirkus for providing a grant to help make this residency happen for the school. Thank you Josh Shack, their program director for scheduling classes and then working with students outside and in person two days a week. Thank you Nettie, his assistant in making the virtual classes so fun and silly with your magical harmonica. We had circus music throughout the school and lots of giggles!

In fact, our students had so much fun with the residency, our annual Fun Day (the last day of school) will be a circus/carnival theme! Planning is well underway - be sure to check out the latest PTO minutes (click the button at the end of this newsletter, labeled PTO) to see how you can help!

If your students are looking for more opportunities for clowning around this summer, check out the Circus Smirkus Camp in Greensboro.

Garden Project, Week 3: Flowers and Pollinators

We had a special visitor this week, expert beekeeper, Dr. Ed Olsen. An apiarist extraordinaire, Dr. Olsen shared his vast knowledge about honey bees, pollination, and how bees make honey. Students walked across the field to see his bee hives first-hand and even the bee smoker. Thank you for the gift of your time and for sharing your bees with us, Dr. Olsen!

The Story Stroll - Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

It’s exciting to announce that we have more books to share with children and families at the Story Stroll. Families will be able to pick up a free book at the end of the story. This hard covered book will be a treasure for your own family library. Please come and enjoy the magical woods here in Morrisville.

The book is called Here We Go ‘Round the Mulberry Bush as told and illustrated by Iza Trapani. Many Vermont gardeners will relate to this book about keeping wild animals out of all the yummy produce. The author has illustrated this story in bright and cheerful illustrations. This well-known sing along and all the hungry creatures feasting on the lush garden will bring a smile to your face.

Please remember to be respectful of this beautiful land by taking out what you bring in. In addition, make sure that children are supervised and use the land at your own risk. There is a sign in box at the beginning of the trail. It’s very helpful if you fill out a sheet each time you come visit.

If you notice anything broken or missing, please let the Lamoille Family Center know. The Lamoille Family Center is located at 480 Cady’s Falls Road, Morrisville. You can contact us at 888-5229 or info@lamoillefamilycenter.org
