Monthly newsletter for our employees - March 17, 2020
Message from Dave Reinhart, Asst. Superintendent/HR Director
Hello Kuna School District Staff:
In these times of uncertainty, we have been working diligently to develop a plan in the event that the District closures continue into April. In the meantime, we wanted to share information with you regarding what we have determined so far concerning HR and Payroll. Thank you for your continued support and patience through this ever-changing time.
Dave
Payroll NEWS
You will be paid on Friday, March 20th. Remember the next pay is nearly 5 weeks away on April 24th. Please budget accordingly. If the closure continues in April or even beyond we have developed the plan below:
Both classified and certified employees will continue to receive their regular paycheck.
Hourly employees, who are required by their supervisor to physically report for work, will be paid a bonus, equivalent to half of their hourly rate for each hour they work. Bright pink school closure timecards will be distributed to these employees to begin tracking ASAP.
Level pay employees who are working remotely will receive their normal level pay amount.
Part-time employees will be compensated based on their average daily hours worked based on the school year calendar.
Salaried employees who are over the federal salary threshold ($35,568 annually) will receive their normal pay regardless of whether they have to report on-site or proceed with work remotely.
Coaches & Assistant Coaches will receive their full stipend with the understanding that if the season extends, they are expected to finish it without additional pay.
Benefits Update
Below is information from Blue Cross regarding testing, access to MDLive for policy holders, and access to medications.
Plan Coverage for COVID-19 Testing
It is important to know that not everyone needs to be tested. A health professional will assess your symptoms and other risk factors on a case-by-case basis and determine if the test for COVID-19 is recommended. If testing is recommended, it will be covered at no cost to you.
Employees are encouraged to call their health district before visiting a physician’s office or emergency department. To find the number for your local health district, visit: https://coronavirus.idaho.gov/contact/
Before visiting a hospital, check their website for important instructions, below is the link to St. Luke’s:
Access to Virtual Care:
Your plan includes access to virtual care through Telehealth benefits with MDLive. This can be used for any non-emergent medical issue by employees and family members covered on the medical plan. By utilizing telehealth, employees can seek care and advice from a healthcare provider without physically visiting a clinic. The cost for a telehealth visit is $10 copay for those enrolled in the $1,000 deductible PPO plan, or a $45 copay for those enrolled in the $2,500 deductible HSA plan. The MDlive flyer is attached. Employees need to activate their MDlive account before using the service, either online or by calling 888-920-2975.
Access to Medications:
Blue Cross has adjusted their policy to permit early prescription refills by request (except for controlled substances). By refilling prescriptions early, employees may be able to avoid another trip to their pharmacy. Members can call the number of the back of their ID card to request an early refill.
