A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Decatur Township Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! The first day of school is August 1st and day one of living our vision, “Preparing Students to be Tomorrow Ready.” We look forward to working together with a strong partnership between students, families, teachers, staff, and our community to make each day count for student growth and achievement. In this edition of the newsletter, you will find information to support a strong start to the school year, such as supply lists, fees, transportation, breakfast/lunch menus, and back to school events.
As a reminder to all elementary families, Liberty Early Elementary is now reopened as Lynwood Elementary for K-6 students, as well as home to our Liberty Preschool for the district. All elementaries will welcome students in grades K-6 this school year with new neighborhood boundaries (MSD Decatur Webpage).
In Decatur Township, safety is a top priority. The MSD of Decatur Township Police force works closely with IMPD and DTFD to provide a safe environment, under supervision of our Decatur Township administration and staff. Our beliefs include equity, teamwork, and excellence. We feel strongly that aligning everything we do with these principles will result in improved outcomes for our students and community. Thank you to our teachers, staff members, and administrators for their hard work preparing to welcome students. Thank you parents, families and community members for your continued commitment and dedication to Decatur Township Schools.

BUS INFORMATION
Bus Drivers will be calling each family this week to give the bus number, bus stop location, and pick up/drop off times.
SUMMER SCHOOL
Our summer school students spent the summer working on reading, math, & ELA along with other enrichment skills. We would like to send a big THANK YOU to all of our staff members who spent their summer enriching the lives of our students. Thank you to Mrs. McGuffey & Ms. Heiber for leading our Summer School programs.
ANNUAL BACKPACK GIVEAWAY
1225 Backpacks filled with supplies were distributed to students at our Annual School Supply Backpack Giveaway. Thank you to our community partners and volunteers for your support: Decatur Township Fire Department, Indianapolis Airport Authority, Patterson Horth, Excel Center, Kozad Family, Los Patios, Culver’s, Meijer, and Decatur School Board and Admin/Staff!
