This summer, Project Based Learning for the class with Hands on Experience.

Teachers will create projects which can be easily adapted to their discipline(s). Teachers will receive a general lesson plan with built-in technology skills and an assessment in the form of a rubric. All sessions are three hours long and you will receive Professional Development points.

Photo Essays: July 2 @ 9 AM OR July 30 @ 1 PM

A digital photo essay is a set of photos that are intended to tell a story or evoke a series of emotions in the viewer.Photo essays range from purely photographic works to photographs with captions or small notes to full text essays with a few or many accompanying photographs. Participants will receive a lesson plan for a photo essay lesson ready for use in class with a rubric to ready to be implemented with any subject.

Objectives:
Participants will learn how to compile a photo essay;
Participants will understand the different types of photo essays, i.e. text, music, simple photos;
Participants will learn the multiple techniques to display a photo essay;
Participants will create a photo essay of a favorite children’s poem or book, using their choice of essay;
Participants will understand the importance of assessment and create a rubric.


Talking Worksheets: July 16 @ 9 AM OR July 23 @ 1 PM

Bring your Pages documents to life with Talking Worksheets. Talking Worksheets add a creative element to the traditional word processing document. Teachers and students can write their papers and facts, and at the same time incorporate video and photos into their Pages document in order to allow for a more entertaining presentation of information. Participants will receive a lesson plan with a Talking Worksheet lesson ready for use in class with a rubric ready to be implemented with any subject.


Objectives:
Participants will learn how to use Pages and import media;
Participants will learn how to create a simple record video with iMovie;
Participants will learn how to put a video or photos into a Pages document;
Participants will l be able to design a compelling presentation and learn how to submit document via drop box;
Participants will understand the importance of assessment and create a rubric.


Create an eBook on the iPad: July 2 @ 1PM OR July 23 @ 9 AM

Create an eBook on the iPad with the Book Creator App (Please do not purchase)

Taking publishing to a new level, learn how to publish books using the iPad. iAuthor on the iMac allows for Multimedia iBooks; now there is an app that allows almost all the same features with extremely colorful additions. This App allows teachers and students to create content from the comfort of their iPad using the Book Creator app. Once completed, books can then be exported to the iBook App shelf as ePubs. Participants will receive a lesson plan with eBook on the iPad lesson ready for use in class with a rubric ready to be implemented with any subject.

Objectives:
Participants will learn how to use Book Creator;
Participants will create a book using a given topic: RUBRIC – TITLE PAGE, 5 pages, END;
Participants will understand the importance of assessment and create a rubric.


Digital Portfolio: July 16 @ 1 PM OR July 30 @ 9 AM

Learn how to compile work throughout the semester into a digital portfolio. Upload work, papers, photos, videos and other items, using Portfolios as an ongoing “log” of work for the school year; have students slowly build this portfolio starting at the beginning, like an online notebook or binder. Have students efficiently create, comment, and collaborate with each other on work and projects throughout the school year with teacher monitoring. Participants will receive a lesson plan with a Digital Portfolio lesson ready for use in class with a rubric ready to be implemented with any subject.

Objectives:
Participants will learn how to use and create Digital Portfolios;
Participants will create a portfolio and complete the portfolio challenges;
Participants will understand the importance of assessment and create a rubric.
