Welcome to Ascent Academy
School Updates as of Nov 7, 2022
WE ARE HIRING
DONATIONS FOR CLUSTERS
We started clusters last Friday, October 28th, and we are so excited to be able to return to them after a couple years of having to take a break due to COVID restrictions.
Clusters are an important part of the School Wide Enrichment Model (SEM), which is part of our Mission at Ascent Academies. During clusters, students in grades 1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade mix with different students from other grades/classes and attend a topic, or cluster of their choice. First, they choose 3 clusters they are interested in on a ballot, and then are assigned one of those 3.
Classroom teachers, aides, and support staff lead clusters so that we can have smaller group sizes.
In their cluster they explore and learn more about that topic, and take it where they would like it to go. They are meant to be student driven, which means that your student helps brainstorm and come up with ideas/questions they want to answer during that time together. We want them to think like a professional would in their cluster topic, and learn new skills that they can take back to their homeroom classroom.
For the first round, Clusters will be every Friday, from 9-10:30 until 11/18. We will then hold a second round of clusters after Winter Break.
If you would like to read more about Clusters, please see the article attached.
