Dallas ISD Recognizes the Work of Roosevelt H-TECH Students in a Promotional Video
Drag Racing is for H-TECH Students
Friday, October 05, 2018, the Roosevelt H-TECH @ El Centro College freshman class attended the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Youth and Education Services (YES) Program, presented by the U.S. Army at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ennis, Texas. Students had the opportunity to engage in S.T.E.M. experiences related to drag racing. Our H-TECH freshmen were able explore various career opportunities within the world of drag racing while gaining an understanding of the important role that S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) play in almost every aspect of the sport. This field trip afforded students the chance to learn through engagement and provided a little fun in the process.

Roosevelt H-Tech Burning to be Better
A fire has been lit in the Roosevelt H-TECH Collegiate Academy. Our ninth grade M.A.P.S. (Methods of Personal and Academic Success) students are burning to make a difference in today’s society. Ignite Me, a community awareness program facilitated by Pastor Adrian McConnell and his Youth Revive team, is sparking M.A.P.S. freshmen to evaluate their communities and act to change them. This community awareness program moves young people to see their communities as extensions of themselves. It further arms them with the necessary tools to spark change for the better.
H-TECH students are expanding their sense of community beyond traditional geographic boundaries. They now see their classrooms, their high school, and the neighborhoods in which they live as parts of a whole community. Ignite Me fires up students to take seriously the duty of contributing to and improving their communities; H-TECH students have responded by taking ownership of this responsibility and getting to work.
H-TECH Freshman Get Ready for TSI Reading Test
On three Saturday mornings, during the rainy fall months of September and October, H-TECH freshmen came to with sleep in their eyes, but success on their minds and mastery in their hearts. Students attended three hours of tutoring designed to support them with reaching mastery on the upcoming TSI (Texas Success Initiative) Reading exam. This exam is one of three TSI tests students need to master in order to take college courses passed their sophomore year at our school. H-TECH teachers provided students with donuts, snacks, and tidbits of knowledge that will support them in exceeding their goals. Kudos to the H-TECH teachers, leadership team, and parents for making these tutorials a success!
