Habit 8: Find Your Voice
Do you use your voice to inspire others? If you do, then you are a leader in habit eight, “Find Your Voice.” Find Your Voice is all about using your voice for good. Auxier is looking for these leaders of habit eight to celebrate them within the school. So, if you volunteer, help in service projects, or any other act of finding your voice take a picture and email it to neal.angie@cusd80.com and your photo will be placed inside the school!
December is a Month of Giving
Written by: Bryce Pasero
Hello, Auxier Aviators, today is a lovely day! This month we are focusing on giving. It’s around the Holidays, where giving is what we do! People mostly think of giving as giving something physical, like a gift. But there are other things that you can give. For example, you can give your time to somebody by helping them or tutoring them. You can also give appreciation, love and respect. You should give respect to teachers and adults when they are talking by not talking over them, because the only way to get respect is to give respect.
Try this:
Give somebody a compliment everyday
Play or talk to people you don’t usually talk to
Don’t exclude people, and if somebody wants to play with you, let them!
Even though giving isn’t always gifts, they still help! Try finding a giving tree and donating to somebody, it will put a smile on their face.

Good Afternoon CUSD!
A number of you have inquired about Winner’s Choice Car or Cash raffle tickets and we’ve heard the call! With a long history of CUSD winners, your $20 purchase is a win-win! It's a chance at $20,000 or $27,000 off the MSRP of a 2020 Toyota and a purchase that gives money back to our schools while providing important scholarship funding for our CUSD students.
IMPORTANT INFO: This year, rather than drawing the winning ticket at the mall in January, we will be drawing the ticket at the CUSD staff rally on March 23rd. While physical tickets will not be available to purchase at schools until the week of January 21st, online tickets are now available. Tickets purchased online between now and next Friday (yep, it’s the 13th!) will be processed in time to be mailed to you before break. If you’d like to have tickets for stocking stuffers or a little holiday cheer, this would be the time to purchase. Tickets purchased after the 13th may not be processed and mailed until after we return from break on January 6th.
Early ticket purchasers qualify for our Early Bird Drawing for over 30 fantastic prizes, held February 21st.
Ready to purchase? Want more information? Visit us at CEF-Raffle.com.
As always, the Foundation exists to support the students and staff of CUSD. We are grateful for the opportunity to invest community support into excellence in education!
Gifted Testing: January 2020
Great effort is made to provide the most appropriate education for each child attending Chandler Unified School District. As a part of the process for identification of our students who may be gifted, we will be testing every second grade student using the Cognitive Abilities Test to determine if gifted services are appropriate for the 2020/2021 school year. All 2nd grade students at Auxier Elementary will be tested in January, unless you request otherwise. If you would NOT like your child to be tested this year for gifted services, please submit your request in writing by letter or email by December 19, 2019 to your child’s teacher.
If you have a child in 3rd through 6th grade and are interested in having him/her tested for gifted services, an application must be completed and returned by 1/10/2020. The application is included below, or you can pick up a copy in the front office. Completed applications can be returned to your child’s teacher or to the front office. Please return them by 1/10/20. We have also included the characteristics of high achievers vs. gifted students, this may help in making the decision to have your student tested.

AAA Award Recipient - Damarius Randolph
Congratulations to Damarius Randolph who was announced as Auxier's 6th grade recipient. Ms. Olson wrote:
The AAA Award recognizes one sixth grade student from each CUSD elementary school who demonstrates not only strong leadership qualities but a drive and eagerness to learn and achieve. Damarius embodies these qualities. Damarius is new to Auxier this year and since day one he came with a positive attitude and ready to make 6th grade his best year yet. Damarius’ school career hasn’t always been easy with asthma that can take him out of school for days and transferring in his 6th grade year from a different school environment where he didn’t feel like he could thrive. Instead of letting these challenges defeat him, he started this year on the right foot ready to make a change. He makes sure that he gets his missed work and takes ownership for his learning.
Damarius wrote a speech that he read at our Veteran’s Day assembly and to the Sun Lakes Rotary club to honor veterans. He spoke with poise and elegance. He greeted the veterans and thanked them for their service with the utmost respect.
He is also kind and caring to his peers, and has been the recipient of several kindness coupons given by Auxier staff. He is always willing to help out others in need. He sees beyond himself and makes sure others are taken care of. His positive personality is contagious! Damarius is a role model and embodies the lessons of the seven habits.
