It appears that not all of our families received the Lion's Roar on Friday, my apologies! I am resending this issue from Friday, February 3rd, in hopes that I can reach all of our Norris community. Let's make it a great week! :)

Hello Norris Lions!

Thank you to all who came out last week for the Norris Night at the Lancers! Our students had SO much fun singing the National Anthem, and watching the hockey game with their friends and family. Our Norris community is truly so special!

This coming week is a special week celebrating Kindness! Each day will have a dress up theme to celebrate students being kind. We will start Monday with Be a Kindness Superhero- Dress like your favorite superhero! I can't wait to see all of the students showing their SUPER kind skills in their costumes!

We hope to see you ALL in the next two weeks at Parent Teacher Conferences. We strive to have 100% attendance for all families. Please call the office if you need to sign up!

Please remember that Norris is a peanut-safe school as we have students with severe nut allergies. Please be aware of ingredients when sending snacks and/or lunches to school. This includes peanut butter. Thank-you so much for your help in keeping our students safe!

Hello Norris Families,

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in person here at Norris Elementary. The on-line sign-up window has closed. Please reach out to your child's teacher or call the office at 402-715-8340 to schedule your conference. Please note the following:

• Conferences will be held February 9th and 14th from 4 p.m.- 8 pm. and February 15th from 8 a.m. -12 p.m.

• After January 29th, you will not be able to adjust your conference time in ParentVue, you will need to contact your child's teacher or the school office to make any changes.

• Be sure to write down your conference time so you know when your conference will take place or reference ParentVue to find your selected time.

• If you are interested in speaking with Mr. Purcell (P.E.) and/or Mr. Reising (Music) they will be at a table in the main hallway of Norris. There are not scheduled times for speaking with them.

All of our conferences will be hosted, in person, at Norris Elementary. Teacher Conferences are a very important part of your child’s educational experience, we appreciate your commitment and engagement.

World Kindness Week came into being when several humanitarian groups came together on November 13, 1997, and made a Declaration of Kindness. What started as World Kindness Day turned into World Kindness Week, where everyone is encouraged to make a similar declaration of kindness and charity. Even the smallest act of kindness can go a long way, and you should never pass up an opportunity to Be Kind! Celebrate the week with us by participating in the daily themes listed below!

We are holding a stuffie auction during Parent-Teacher Conferences to raise money for new books for the library!

All stuffies and fun items will start at a $2 bid and may only be increased in increments of $1. No bids ending in cents will be accepted.

Auctions will end at 5 pm on February 15th, 2023 and you will be notified through email if you are the final winner.

**Please make sure you fill out the bidder information form by clicking on the flyer below! Payments will need to be made to Norris Elementary either by cash or check.

Applications are now being accepted for our Montessori Preschool program. Families living in the Millard School district must submit the application by February 15th, 2023. Families living outside of the Millard School district must apply before March 15, 2023. If you have questions about this application please call 402-715-1265.

Do you know a current 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader who loves to sing and move? We would love to have them join one of our Millard Show Choir Camps this summer! There are TWO to choose from!!! One at Beadle Middle and one at Millard North! These camps are open to ALL current 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders (kids who WILL be in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade next school year!) Please check out the attached flier for all information. To celebrate Black History Month, we are having the 11th Annual Nebraska Black History Art contest and would like to invite you to participate. The contest is open to all Nebraska students, K-12. Winners will be judged in three categories Elementary School, Middle School and High School. Winner’s will be awarded money and prizes. Students may see their teacher for permission slips.
