If you are interested in ANY of these positions, want to learn more, or want to "job shadow" a current member - please email the PTO officers at officers@weaverlakepto.org. We are running without a nomination chairperson, so we are all working together to help fill these positions.
Please note: The organization's governing documents (bylaws) state that the positions of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Communication, and Fundraising Coordinator are to be opened up every two years. Doing this allows fresh ideas and equal representation.
Open Positions
Are you interested in making a difference within Weaver Lake Elementary? Do you want to impact the educational experience for our students? If so, come and join us!! The 2024-2025 school year will start with three officer positions opening, cycling through a 2-year term. These positions will start in May 2024. We are looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:
- President - The President presides over meetings of the PTO and executive board, serves as the primary contact for the principal, represents the PTO at meetings outside the PTO, serves as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, and coordinates the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the PTO is served. This position is a two-year term.
- Vice President - The Vice President assists the President and carries out the President's duties in their absence or inability to serve. The Vice President also oversees the committees of the PTO. Membership focus/connecting with parents, Responsible for Open House and K Orientation, Financial reviewer. This position is a two-year term.
- Communications Coordinator - The Communications Coordinator oversees all PTO communications, including the PTO newsletter, website, social media, and emails. This position is a two-year term.
We also have the following position open that was not filled in the last election:
- Fundraising Coordinator - Support our talented group! Oversee the planning process of all PTO events and fundraisers, recruit chairpersons as needed, and create and submit facility permits.
In addition, we also have the following volunteer Chair positions open.
- Nominating Chairperson - The sad reality is our children move on to middle school, our friends move away, or time is no longer available for our current volunteers to help run our programs. At the end of each school year, the PTO posts the open officer positions and any volunteer needs for the next school year. The Nominating Chairperson oversees this process and the nominees for our election for the next school year.
- School Supply Kits - Review the yearly contract, review kit contents, and market the program. Work begins in March, and most of the rest of the work is completed by summer break. This is a perfect position for someone wanting to help a few hours from home. You will work with the Communications Coordinator to set up communications with families.

PTO Meetings
Mission Statement and Purpose
We are a group of parents/guardians and teachers with a primary objective to support our school and its students.
Every parent or guardian of students and every Weaver Lake Elementary staff member is an automatic member of the PTO! We would like to encourage you to join one of our next general meetings.
Everyone! We recognize it may feel awkward for some people to walk into a meeting where they do not know anyone. Many of us felt the same way when we went to our first meeting. We are a welcoming group that enjoys meeting new people. We love our school, teachers, staff, and students. Please consider joining us at one of our meetings.
What are the benefits of coming to a PTO meeting?
Meet other parents and staff members! Help build a school community and have a positive impact.
Voting Rights! Take part during votes to: approve the budget, choose events to host, select fundraisers, elect board members, etc. (remember, you are a member already - your vote matters!)
Be a role model! Show your child that you value education. Research demonstrates: “When parents are involved in their children’s education at home, they do better in school. And when parents are involved in school, children go farther in school, and the schools they go to are better.”
I missed a meeting, can I see what was discussed?
Absolutely! Our meeting minutes and financials can be found on the PTO website: https://www.weaverlakepto.org/
When is the next meeting?
The next meeting is January 9, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Media Center at Weaver Lake Elementary and online via Google Meet.
