February Newsletter

Remember to pack these items...

Please send your student with a water bottle everyday! These can be filled at school if needed.

Masks are getting very wet during winter recesses and kids need 1-2 backups. Please have spare masks in your student's backpack for these situations.

Winter Recess means playing in the snow! Have your student bring their snow gear everyday!

Reminder from the Office: Appointments or Early Pick Ups

Due to new safety policies in place, students will not wait in the office when they have an appointment or are leaving school early. Students will remain in their classrooms until an adult arrives at the building and buzzes the office. Then, the student will be called from their classroom to join the adult outside. Please allow extra time when you arrive so students are able to gather their belongings.

From the Nurse's Office

Nurse Wright was featured on the Ankeny Community School Facebook page, showing off her Covid-19 vaccination card.

Please continue to mask up, social distance, and communicate with Nurse Wright regarding any Covid-19 related exposures, tests, or absences.

Reminder that all Covid-19 related quarantines are determined only by the Polk County Public Health Department.

Golden Whistle Trophy

Westwood Elementary Students have the opportunity to earn Golden Whistle tickets for showing positive behavior at recess. The class that earns the most tickets will claim a brand new traveling Golden Whistle Champion trophy and be recognized during a virtual school assembly. Ask your student if they have earned a Golden Whistle ticket and find out what great choices they are making each day at recess to be Responsible, Respectful, and Safe!
