Dear Everitt Families:
Last night was our annual International Night. This year, we partnered with our neighborhood elementary schools, Wheat Ridge High School, many local restaurants, local performance groups, an author, and other community organizations to create our best International Night yet! We estimate that we had around 700 people at Everitt for the event. It was a beautiful celebration of the many cultures represented in our neighborhoods and schools. Thank you to Leslie Weinstein and our PTAs for calling local restaurants, serving and picking up food, and filling in wherever we needed you. Thank you to our Wheat Ridge area family liaisons (and especially our own Edgar Solis) for all of the work you did to partner together to create this amazing event. Thank you to Angie Neve, Sarah Gallagher, and their students for creating wonderful opportunities for us to experience new cultures. Thank you to Spanish 2 for an amazing dining experience in our restaurant. Thank you to our teachers and staff who attended the event and who shared their cultures with us. Thank you to our student council for all of the work that you did to keep the event running smoothly. Thank you to our custodial crew for working the long night to get our building ready for today. A special thanks to Angie Neve who dreamed up International Night several years ago. Angie didn't know that her celebration of Spanish-speaking countries would turn into this giant community-wide event.
This next week, there is a family event on March 17th from 8:00-noon featuring Barbara Coloroso. I had the privilege of hearing Barbara speak in the fall and found her to be incredibly compelling and helpful. She will be speaking on her work around bullying and creating caring communities. If you can make it, I encourage you to go. You will receive a free copy of Barbara's book The Bully, the Bullied, and the Not-So-Innocent Bystander: Breaking the Cycle and Creating More Deeply Caring Communities. I read the book in the fall and I think you will love it.
Wheat Ridge Recreation Center has asked me to ask you to please use a parking spot if you are picking your child up from there instead of our parking lot. They are having issues with families using their loop for pick up.
Next week, we have a spirit week at Everitt. Monday is Pajama Day, Tuesday is Dress like a Teacher Day, Wednesday is College Day, Thursday is Everitt Day (blue and yellow), and Friday is Wear your Green for St. Patrick's Day. I know that the elementary schools do not have school on Friday the 17th, but we do have school.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

EVERITT INTERNATIONAL NIGHT 2023
Thank you for everything!
I want to thank all the families that were a part of this fun and important event for our community. The projects from each of our families, students, and staff were fantastic, and more than anything, having shared your story is indescribable. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you for partnering with us, whether it's sharing your story that day or supporting your students with their project or collaborating with us in so many other ways to make this happen. We couldn't have done it without you. Thanks to all the restaurant sponsors who collaborated with us, to our service organizations present especially Rotary and Optimist for their generous contribution in making our event a success.
It is one of my favorite events because it gives me the opportunity to collaborate with everyone in our community, to unite our stories and highlight the greatness of our schools.
Respectfully, Edgar Family Engagement Liaison
