The Geography of Oman.

The country of Oman is on the continent of Asia.

The country's that surrounded Oman are, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and, Iran. Oman also borders the Arabian sea.

The physical features of Oman include mountains in the north followed by deserts through out the country.

The country of Oman is located in a strategic place in the mouth of the Persian Gulf. This enables the people of Oman to trade openly with other countries.

The Government of Oman.

The Government of Oman is a absolute monarchy there is no freedom. It is a limited Government. Sharia law is the source of all legislation.

The Sultans rule in every way. The leaders are chosen by the Sultans. The present Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said is the hereditary leader of the country since 1970.

Omani citizens have very few right. The government of Oman tells kids what they are going to do when they grow up. The government uses torture against the people to do what he/she tells them.

Economy of Oman.

It is a mixture of poor and rich because they have a lot of oil and good trading and tourism.

The Currency of Oman is called: Omani Rail (OMR).

The main export of Oman is oil. They also have tourism, trade of fish and some agriculture.

The life expectancy of a person in Oman is 77 years old. Out of 1000 people living in Oman, there are approx. 20 births born per year. Oman has a high literacy rate as 87% of people there know how to read. The People of Oman get their drinking water from wells and with the increase of population, the government provides some sources of water to meet the demands.

The Culture of Oman.

Oman girls have to cover themselves. This includes, a dress worn over trousers and a headdress. For men, the national dress is an ankle-length, collarless gown with long sleeves, called a dishdasha.The national language of Oman is Arabic.Their main language is islam. The food Oman eats is, mashed rice and meat (sometimes chicken). The major religion in Oman is Islam.

The Climate of Oman

The climate of Oman is very hot!! It only rains about 3.2 inches per year. Sometimes it will snow every few years in the Mountains. The average temperature is 95*F and the coldest in January is 70*F. It can get as hot as 122* in the heat of the summer. The winds from the oceans that surround the country affects the climate of the nation.

Compare and Contrast Government & Culture: Clothing.

The difference is Government of Oman is limited and the u.s.a's Government is unlimited.The Government is very controlling to her/his people and the u.s.a's Government is not very controlling to his/her people.And they wear different cloths then the u.s.a.and they have different culture then the u.s.a.The similarity is that both country's have a lot of oil.And they both eat mashed rice and chicken and beef and vegetables.etc.And we both have police officers.
