April Update
RRMS Library
What an Awesome April!
Students have been studying poetry and preparing for the upcoming Poetry Slam because April is National Poetry Month! Mrs. Bartling & Mrs. Simmons brought in their students to use the library space as well as poetry books to stimulate students' thinking and exploration of different styles of poetry.
We hosted a very successful spring book fair April 24-28! THANK YOU to our incredible PTA for generously fulfilling items on teachers' wish lists as well as purchasing books for teachers new to Rocky Run next year. See below for more details!
The library is continuing to receive new books for its collection! We are adding a great variety of fiction titles and we are enhancing our nonfiction collection with books that support SOLs being taught in our classrooms, especially science and history. We have also added new books especially for mental health, including dealing with anxiety, making friends, and depression. For information on resources we have on particular topics, visit our library catalog here.

Makerspace Update
Students have been hard at work creating all kinds of things in the makerspace! Lots of work has been done to create a large game controller, guided by Mr. Williams and Mrs. Pryde-Haskins, which was completed at the end of April. Congrats!
Recently, Mrs. Slevin's Creative Writing class has been working on creating greeting cards as a project-based learning unit centered around poetry. Students reviewed the poetry concepts and created poetry individually or in groups, then utilized the makerspace to create their greeting cards. Students will send or give away one of their creations. See below for photos!
