December 2021

Principal's Note

Lamar Families,

I hope you Thanksgiving was restful and that you had time to spend with family and friends!

As we move into December and the final part of the 2nd nine weeks, I wanted to take time to thank you for you support for your child's education and for our school!

Families, you support Lamar everyday by ensuring your child is present, on time, and here for the entirety of the school day. You do this by checking in on grades and behavior through PowerSchool Parent Portal (linked below). You do this through open communication channels with teachers via email, Class Dojo, and Band. And above all, you provide a safe and loving home environment that we can extend for students when they are at school each day.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, thank you for doing these things and for committing to our school's vision which states that "learning is a process which is cultivated through the collaborative efforts of the school, home, and community."

Another reminder, students will be taking their Winter Mid Year Benchmark test in December. These assessments mirror what students will see on their TCAP for grades 3-8 and this data allows the school to more accurately shape individual instruction for your child. Please talk to them about the importance of doing there best on these tests!

Finally, with inclement weather on the horizon, please make sure you are signed up for the WCDE Emergency Text Alert system using the button below. This system will send emergency alerts including school closure information via text message.

If you have any questions or if I can be of assistance, please call the school at 423-753-1130 or email me at merrimanm@wcde.org.

Respectfully,

Mark Merriman, Principal
