Hello, my name is Dalton Jones. I was born and raised in Decatur County and I am a 2011 graduate of North Decatur High School. After high school I served in the United States Army Infantry until 2014. Following that I attended Ivy Tech as well as IUPUC for Criminal Justice. I began my law enforcement career with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office in February of 2017, where I have served until beginning here at North Decatur Schools. I married my wife Dannie (Belter) in 2017. We live in Greensburg and have a son, Jack, and a daughter, Quinn. We also have a dog named Cooper and two cats named Zooey and Little Man. In my spare time I enjoy weightlifting, family time, and watching sports (Rams, Cardinals, and Hoosiers). I look forward to meeting all of you, and continuing my law enforcement career as a North Decatur Charger!
This week, the 3rd grade students read a story in their reader titled "One Plastic Bag." It is a true story about a woman from Njau, Gambia who was on her way to her village when she came across a plastic bag floating through the air, which she was unfamiliar with. As the days passed, she noticed more and more plastic bags in the city and wondered how people could utilize these bags. The villagers believed the plastic bags would disappear over time after being used. The plastic bags did not decompose and they began piling up in many places. The woman knew she had to make use of them, so she collected, cleaned, and started crocheting them into little purses as of way of recycling them.
Today Mrs. Mary Ann Smith does something similar with plastic bags. She makes rugs out of the plastic bags. She shared with 3rd grade the process of how she makes these rugs and shared several completed projects.Third grade students realized the importance of recycling and reusing the things that we incorporate into our everyday lives.
