Afterschool reminder:

  • Students who need school bus transportation home, should immediately board buses on the Summit Avenue. Students should not be crossing Grand Avenue for snacks and beverages as they are to MASK UP on buses and eating/drinking on school buses is not allowed.
  • Students staying after school for athletics and FLIPSIDE also need to remain on site and go directly to their activity location. Students should not be crossing Grand Avenue to visit local businesses for snacks and beverages. Students who leave the Ramsey school campus are not eligible to participate that afternoon.

Your student's safety is extremely important and when students leave the school grounds, we cannot ensure their safety. Please make sure your student understands the importance of remaining on school grounds.

School Bus Safety Training (bus evacuations). Wednesday, Oct. 13th, when the buses arrive at the school, the student will be performing a front door evacuation.

REMINDER: All students riding a bus to and from school must wear a mask over their mouth and nose while on the school bus.

Flipside starts on Monday October 11th! Students schedules were emailed out on Thursday October 7th. Students must have received a schedule and have their own transportation home in order to stay after and participate. Please email Ms. Darcy with questions @ darcy.holle@spps.org

Starting the week of October 25th we are Super excited to offer a drumline program on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Come learn the fundamentals of drumming with elements of drill and dance!! Sign up here!

Literacy Corner

As partners in your child's literacy development, we are excited to update you as students are increasing their reading volume, stamina and choice across the school day, many choosing what topics/articles they want to read about in content classes like Health and more. Building on the trust and relationships with both staff and students, scholars are choosing books to read in their reading and ELA classes from the school library, classroom library, and virtual library apps and focusing on studying and analyzing character at deepening levels from 6th grade to 8th. You might ask your scholar what, where, why, and how they chose to read this week.

Also, there's some talk of adding a Free Little Library outside our school. If interested in getting involved, please contact PTO or anne.sawyer@spps.org.

PTO Fundraising

We are all Stronger when We Work Together!

It’s October and this means we are starting our formal push for donations. We want our fundraising done before the end of the month!. We want to dedicate our focus, time, energy and resources on engaging and supporting our community, the real work! Help us reach our goals so we can stop asking you for money this year.

We need your help if we are going to reach our goals. We can not do this without your support.

Our Goals:

  • 500 Total Donations

  • Average $25/student for the year (< $3 a month for the school year)

  • Only 1 fundraising campaign (this one) for the entire year!

Every penny helps, there are no minimum donations so please give what you can. If we all participate, we can share the load together.

Click Here To Go to Our GiveMN Donation Page

If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign with your network and help us reach more people!

Please join the conversations on our Ramsey Facebook Group and visit us at our Monthly PTO meeting.

Tech Time

Security on New iPads

SPPS iPads have additional WiFi security settings this year. This is great news for parents, students, and staff. Websites like Facebook, Instagram and other non-academic websites cannot be accessed from SPPS WiFi. These websites will also be blocked on WIFI networks outside of school.

If you find your student needs additional limitations such as time limits or blocking types of sites, please let me know. I can send you the directions to set up Screen Time on the iPad.

Please note that many staff members use YouTube videos as part of teaching and learning. For that reason, YouTube should not be blocked on the student iPads.

If you have any questions, please email cara.hagen@spps.org.

Do you enjoy skiing? Join the St. Paul Alpine Ski Team (SPAST)! The team is open to SPPS students in grades 7-12. While some alpine skiing experience is necessary, racing experience is not required. Please fill out this form to sign up or email Julie Eddy-Boudet (julie.eddy-boudet@stpaul.k12.mn.us) for more info. One additional note: Alpine skiing is an expensive sport. The district recently agreed to pay more of the costs, including transportation. The SPAST parent group is willing to help students who would like to join the team but whose families have limited financial resources.

Ultimate Frisbee

If your student athlete is interested in joining the Ramsey Ultimate Frisbee team, please connect with Ms. Ekegren to get on the email list for more updates about practices, times and dates! Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org or 651-744-7397
