NOVEMBER 25, 2020

Dear Families,

This is the time of year where we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of the things I am thankful for with you: I am thankful for our students who come to school every day – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. I am thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. I am thankful for the amazing support of our community. I am thankful for the teachers, assistants, secretaries, nurses, support staff, therapists and administrators who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. In these most difficult and challenging times, I see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen for our students and school.Thanksgiving can be a great day for many filled with tons of good food and time spent with loving family and friends, and this is very special and important. However, for Native Americans in New England, Thanksgiving marks a time when their ancestors were treated poorly. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge this, and express gratitude for the Pocumtuc land that our school lies on. This year, Thanksgiving may look a little different due to health and safety restrictions, but I hope that you get a chance to enjoy this time in whatever way makes sense for your family.

On behalf of the Discovery School staff, I would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving Break. We hope that you enjoy the attached slideshow from all of us at DSFC! We will see everyone back on November 30th.
