Magical Moment "SPOTLIGHT" - Natalie Brown and Kimberly Engebretson (Sprong)
The first Magical Moment "SPOTLIGHT" this week is on Mrs. Natalie Brown for her continued leadership inside and outside of the classroom. She continuously seeks out opportunities to extend her influence beyond the classroom through campus and district leadership. As 1 of 25 DTR Ambassadors in the entire district, she shares her vision of student academic excellence with other aspiring DTR teachers. Needless to say, her positive influence on our campus is tremendous. Her team members benefit from her leadership. Additionally, Trunk or Treat was a huge success for our students, parents, and community because of her leadership. We are truly fortunate to have Mrs. Brown as a Guzick teacher and leader on our campus.
Our second Magical Moment "SPOTLIGHT" this week is on Mrs. Kimberly Engebretson (Sprong) for her use of exemplars to improve student mastery of taught concepts. All students benefit from knowing the expectations of what teachers are looking for in an assessment task. I observed Mrs. Engebretson's 1st grade students completing an assessment task (DOL) after guided practice. They were successful on this assessment task because they understood the nature and characteristics of quality work and could make reference to an exemplar as they completed the task.

A huge part of an exceptional academic experience begins with fostering a positive student culture. The success of our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) System begins with "US". As adults, it is important for each of us to BELIEVE in the system through actions and words.
4/20. 1/5. 20%.
These numbers represent the fraction of teachers who implemented our Accountability teacher hallway behavior in our PBIS system during after school dismissal. The teacher behavior for the Accountability section of the Teacher matrix for Hallway behavior reads:
-Remind students of the hallway behavior
-Reference signs in the hallway
-Stay towards the back of the line
For this teacher behavior, my expectation is 100% of our staff will implement our Accountability teacher hallway behavior in our PBIS system. We will hold our Guzick Giant students accountable, we will hold ourselves accountable, we will hold our colleagues accountable, and I will hold our entire campus accountable for reaching 100% in this area.

REMINDER: After School Activities Protocol (Tutoring, Clubs, and Sports)
To ensure that students are supervised at all times and we are communicating appropriately with our parents, please review the following after school activities protocol and plan accordingly:
Regular Dismissal @2:45pm
-All students should dismiss according to the regular dismissal process. There should be no students who are walking down the hallway unsupervised. At 3:10pm, students who are in after school activities should be escorted by their dismissal teacher to the cafeteria to be greeted by their sponsor/coach.
-Please refer to the Google doc with the list of after school activities, dates, and student names.
Cancellations
-Cancellations should only occur at least 24 hours before the scheduled activity date. "Day of" cancellations should not be a common practice.
-Parents should be notified of cancellations in writing and if at all possible by phone as well.
-Please send an email to Mrs. Willis and Mrs. Chavez when you are cancelling tutoring so we can communicate the change to parents if they call the front office.
After School Activities Dismissal
-All activities should end before 4:30pm. Students should be outside at 4:30pm for dismissal.
-Please use the red hall or car arrival doors to dismiss. Please do not dismiss from the blue or green hallway doors.
