Mrs. Hallford's Learners

A Week Full of Kindness

We had a wonderful week full of kindness. Mrs. Crusenberry is one of the Lead Learners at Pike Road School. Her son, Ben, is overseas in the army. We partnered with our 3rd grade buddies from Mrs. Eller's class to make cards and letters to encourage him and to thank him for protecting our country.

Valentine's Party

Thanks to all who helped make our Valentine's Party so special! We played a Heart game, ate yummy treats, and opened our Valentine boxes. We also brought home a cute Valentine craft prepared by Shirley Talley!

Mystery Reader

Amber Meeks, Micaiah's mother, surprised our class with several books that were perfect for our Week of Kindness. After reading, she donated one of the books to our class library.

Thank you, Mrs. Meeks!

FreshGrade Updates

FreshGrade released updates that changed the icons viewed in your child's Portfolio As a parent, you will now see the new icons. Besides eliminating the red dot, other changes are that "Meeting and Approaching Expectations" now have a high and low end. This allows Lead Learners to show a wider range of student. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Let's Pretend Hospital Field Trip on Feb. 22, 2016

We will be going to the Let's Pretend Hospital on February 22nd. Due to space, we are only allowed to have 5 chaperones. Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone. All chaperones will need to meet us at the Institute for Patient Safety and Medical Stimulation, 855 East South Blvd at 11:30. Younger siblings are not allowed. Our learners will board the bus from PRS around 11:15 . The trip should last around two hours. Please be sure you have returned your child's permission slip.

We Are Learning About...

Math - regrouping addition, double digit subtraction, practicing math facts, telling time

Writing - good sentence structure, writing complete sentences with adjectives and adverbs,

while using correct subject-verb agreement

Sight Words - Learners are progressing well with recognizing the sight words. Now we are

working towards using the correct spelling in writing.
