Cool Cat News
Campus Brief
Cool Cats,
Man, I've never seen kids so invested, so committed to their task, so desirous of doing their best! I want to give a "whoot-whoot" to our 4th graders and the 4th grade team! We did a great job on our writing checkpoint this week! Our kids' scores are leading the district and there is still so much potential for growth! Congratulations, Mrs. Ferris and 4th grade team!
This has been a short week full of UPs with some DOWNs. Wednesday, Checkpoint Day, was one of the most organized efforts one could witness. Our very own assistant principal fabulousness, Mrs. Waters, was on the task and boy did she do an outstanding job! It was a great day! Thank you, Angela! You definitely deserve a shout out! Thank you to all of our staff who supported testing whether it was through monitoring a hall or administering a small group, everyone did a job well done! We also enjoyed our Title I Tech Night! You all had some great activities in your classrooms, those Mad Scientists were amusing the crowds, and many students went home content with slime in hand! It was fun.
Also, I really need your help this week and in days to come. We've all got to make sure that if we have a morning duty, that we arrive on time to our duty. Our students start arriving pretty early, therefore we have got to be ready to get started at 7am sharp. This is our scheduled opening time. We've all gotten a little lax, but let's get back in gear this week! Thank you!

Staff Updates
Black History Month- If your students are doing any projects that honor African American History or Heros, please let me know. What I would like to do is organize some of our best student work into a learning museum or gallery of sorts that our students can experience sometime during the month. I have already asked our 2nd grade team to hold on to some of their awesome Chatter Pix creations. I would love to integrate other creative projects and allow our students to enjoy the displays. Please let me know if you have projects or ideas, Thanks!
Our Wednesday Staff Meeting topics will be February PD Day; Lockdown Update and STAAR Training! We will get started right after duties in the library.
"Soup-er Bowl" Potluck- We are looking forward to having a soup potluck this Friday, February 3rd to get us all pumped up for the big game! If you make a hearty, tasty.YUMMY soup, now's the time to pull out that recipe and share some with friends! And it's okay if you made it last semester, lol! The Google Doc sign-up sheet has been sent out, and we are looking forward to a delicious time!
Literacy Consultation Date- Our next date with with Kristin B has been changed to February 6th. This is a Wylie Way day, but our original dates fell on 3rd and 4th grade Checkpoint dates. We will make this date our PLC day for this week. We will have an altered schedule on this day, so we will only have a 50 minute PLC. This meeting will be an opportunity for open dialogue with Kristin. If you have topics of interest, please let me know. This will be her last visit for the year.
Round Table Behavior Discussion- Our Spring Round Table discussion is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd from 3-4pm. Remember this is an optional opportunity for you to meet with several of the behavior specialists and work through any behavior concerns yo may have.
Staff Shout Outs!!!
Rita Ferris to Stacy Hefner
I just want to recognize your hard work! The writing scores reflect your time in my room. You are one of the hardest working ESL teachers that I have ever worked with. I love that you come in my room every day with a plan of action! You never wast any time, you get our ESL students right to work with a goal in mind! Also, I want to thank you for taking them for several days training them in the computer room before the test. I know that made a difference as well! I really, really appreciate your hard work pushing the ESL students to their potential! I couldn't do it with you~
Shout out to Angela Waters from Stacy Hefner- Angela put a lot of work into planning and organizing the Writing Checkpoint day down to the minute and then did an amazing job of shifting and changing those plans when suggestions were given about making it run smoothly the “Hartman way.” We greatly appreciate the flexibility and trust that she displayed while essentially having to scrap her previous plans. Thank you Angela! Your support has not gone unnoticed.
