Greetings North Wales Families,
To our North Wales Community on Yom Kippur, we wish you peace and goodness! School is closed Monday, September 25 in observance of the holiday.

This Friday is a Spirit Day! We are celebrating BE YOU Day! Celebrate by wearing clothes that represent you, or your culture, heritage, or simply your favorite color.

Literacy Update For The Week
WIT AND WISDOM
In Wit and Wisdom, knowledge is obtained through five content stages. They are Wonder, Organize, Reveal, Distill, and Know.
During the Wonder Stage: Students read the text with curiosity and attention and ask key questions about what is read. Here are some Instructional routines that are included: Notice and Wonder T-charts

Smartwatch/Cell Phone Reminder
Please note, cell phones should be in silent mode or turned off and stored in bookbags throughout the day. Smartwatches should not be used to make calls, send messages, or take photos/videos during the school day. Also, note the school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices. Our school team will be reminding our students of these expectations regarding personal devices.

Cultural Highlights Of The Week
Hispanic Heritage Month- September 15- October 15
Former NASA astronaut Ellen Ochoa was the first Hispanic woman to go to space. She served on a nine-day mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1993. Ochoa was also the first Hispanic and second female director of NASA's Johnson Space Center.
Yom Kippur - September 24-25
Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the year for people of the Jewish faith. This year, it will be celebrated at sundown on Sunday, Sept. 24 and lasts until sundown on Monday, Sept. 25.
Translated to English, Yom Kippur means "day of atonement," and the holiday marks a time for fasting and prayer. It is marked by fasting and work of any kind is prohibited.

Personal Safety Lesson
Dear North Penn Families,
During the 1st trimester, your child will participate in a lesson about Personal Safety. This
programming is part of the North Penn School District’s Guidance curriculum. This year, these
lessons will be conducted in grades Kindergarten through 5th Grade. These lessons will be
co-taught by your child’s school counselor and a member of the Mission Kids Child Advocacy
