Description of drug
Alcohol is produced by the fermentation of yeast, sugars, and starches. It is a central nervous system depressant that is rapidly absorbed from the stomach and small intestine into the bloodstream.
Alcohol affects Neurotransmitter
After crossing the blood-brain barrier, alcohol affects several neurotransmitter systems–those for GABA, glutamate, serotonin, dopamine, and the endogenous opiates–the body's naturally occurring painkillers, also called endorphins.
How neurotransmitter normally work ?
Neurotransmitters are chemicals that transmit messages from one nerve cell (neuron) to another.
