FROM OUR ADMINISTRATORS
From Mr. Bachmeier's Desk (School Superintendent)
Greetings,
If you were to go by the weather the first couple of weeks of the school year, you would think we should still be on summer break! The beginning of school is an exciting time, and this year is no different. Students are learning routines, and staff are learning their students’ strengths and weaknesses, and preparing them for the year to come. Our school population is up again this year, and this is exciting to see as our school district has been continually growing over the past ten years! When new families arrive, they often tell me about how they have heard that our school district is a great one and that they chose to live here because of the school and the communities. We take great pride in this and will continue to work diligently to uphold the tradition of our mission in “Instilling values and providing opportunities that empower learners for lifelong success.” Seeing new and familiar faces in our hallways makes this time of year so exciting and watching the growth is perhaps one of the greatest joys we in education get to see every day.
As we start the year, I ask that if you need anything or have any questions or concerns that you, please either email me at c.bachmeier@k12.nd.us or call my office at 701-725-4334. I believe in open door communication, and I will work with you to help answer your questions or address your needs.
Finally, my quote for this month comes from Benjamin Franklin “If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” When I look at education and what my profession is, I believe it is the investment into our young people and it pays off for generations.
Have a great month!
Sincerely,
Christopher N. Bachmeier

Welcome Back, Lakers!! We have had a great start to the new school year and we’re looking forward to a fun year full of learning! Below you will find more information about the elementary.
Staff Changes
The elementary school had a few staff changes in our school this year and I wanted to share these with everyone. I would like to introduce myself, my name is Kayla Andersen and this is my first year as principal at DLB Elementary. I’ve been the assistant principal for the past six years. This is my seventeenth year in education, before administration I taught junior high and elementary. Mr. Brown will be the assistant principal at the elementary and the junior high principal. This is Mr. Brown’s eighth year with DLB, last year he taught junior high social studies and has taught fifth grade in the past. New staff to our building include Mrs. Bachmeier (music), Mrs. Banister (speech), Mrs. Feller (3rd grade), Mrs. Hedges (4th grade), and Mrs. Duchsherer (5th grade). Some changes within the building include Miss Moen moving to 1st grade, Mrs. Frueh to 2nd grade, Mrs. Lawler is coming down for elementary band, and there are only two sixth grade sections.

National Honor Society Information
Membership criteria
To be selected to the National Honor Society, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. They are also required to complete an information form showing their interest and desire to be a part of this organization. The information forms are reviewed and selections are based on a variety of factors, which can be reviewed in the bylaws linked to the website (see below).
For students considering NHS as an option in the coming year, we highly recommend keeping track of community service hours over the summer and into the next school year. The current bylaws require a minimum of 10 service hours per year for all members. Other requirements include attending all monthly meetings, carrying goals of scholarship, leadership, character, and service, and actively participating in group projects through the year.
Information forms will be shared with eligible students in January 2023. For more information, please contact the chapter advisor, Mary Eldredge Sandbo at the high school.
