Matey Message

Matey Message Week 11 October 25-29

From small beginnings come great things.

Dear Matey Families,

Are you ready?

This is going to be one exciting week! In American culture, the end of October brings tricks and treats as Halloween is celebrated in many homes across the country.

This year, NP3 Elementary will continue its tradition of celebrating with a Halloween parade. In addition, NP3 High School has invited elementary students to participate in some fun activities on their campus. Elementary "Buddy Classes" will visit high school classrooms and participate in "trick-or-treat." We are excited to bring our campuses together for some fun and bonding!

Have a SPOOOOOOOOKY Week!

Community Outreach: Welcome Home Bathroom Baskets

In an effort to help our Sacramento Afghan families and Afghan refugees, NP3 Elementary is partnering with Sacramento Food Bank to create "Bathroom Baskets" for newly arriving Afghan refugees.

The Bathroom Baskets will feature toiletries collected from students and families. We are asking each classroom community to consider donating one item from the list attached. Donations will be accepted the week of November 1-5.

Please review the attached flyer to see what item your student's classroom is responsible for. If you have any questions, you may contact Mrs. Draper at sdraper@natomasunified.org

Leader in Me: Habits Brainstormer

Students can use the Habits Brainstormer with families to identify ways they can Be Proactive at home. The attached prompt is a great tool to help students organize their thoughts!

Construction Updates:

Please be careful in the mornings. Over the fall break, our large parking lights were removed (to accommodate construction). Until Daylight Savings, it can be dark early on. Be on the lookout for littles in the morning and evening (when entering and exiting).

NUSD Invitation Map Consideration Hearings (from NP3 Administration):

Below is an invitation from NUSD to participate in "map consideration hearings" for the Natomas Unified School District Board. This proposal has NO IMPACT on the NP3 Board but is still important for all Natomas parents and students. As you are aware, NP3 is an Independent Charter with its own governing board, but the relationship with NUSD and its Board is important to NP3. The NUSD Board is our Charter Authorizer, has financial oversight responsibilities for charter schools has included charter schools in construction bonds, and is an invaluable partner in many other efforts to care for and educate our students.

Invitation from NUSD Administration: The Natomas Unified School District, like many other cities and school districts in the state, is in the process of changing how members of the Board of Education are elected to office. On October 27, November 17, and December 14 the Board will hole 'map consideration' hearing and view draft maps for the transition to by trustee area elections. Please see the attached flyer. NUSD is not sure if they will still be meeting virtually or if the meetings will be in person by these dates, however, NUSD wants you to know that if you have your own proposed map(s) that you would like to share, you may email them to publiccomment@natomasunified.org and your attachment will be included as part of public comment.
