Patriot's Pen
Week 36: May 27-31
Message from Mireles
This last week, was no exception:
On Wednesday some of our 8th grade student leaders spoke to rounds of judges during the Silver &. Black Give Back "Team UP challenge Final Showcase" at the AT&T center. I watched as our students spoke passionately about the Patriot Pantry and the work they do there. It was inspiring, listening to their dedication for this community. Thank you to Mrs. Brandt & Mrs. Christensen for instilling a servant's heart in our kids.
BIG THANKS to Mrs. Severson, our FCS students and both Cynthia & Joy for creating such a welcoming luncheon for our Volunteers. If you've never worked on a campus where volunteers are scarce or non-existent then you may not understand our enthusiasm for these wonderful parents and grandparents. These volunteers offer countless time and energy for our kids and this school, we are beyond blessed at RMS.
We welcomed "Electrify your Choir" to RMS this week, where they conducted a workshop and performance that was highly anticipated and well attended. Way to go Mrs. Owens for all your work to make this happen for our Patriots.
Our award winning A1 Band competed Thursday at the Texas Lutheran University Band Festival where they brought home "Exceptional Musicianship" among multiple other accolades. Way to go Mari and Michael!
AVID held their 1st Annual, "AVID Signing Party" on Thursday night as a way to commemorate their commitment to the next steps in this educational journey. Incoming 6th as well as rising 7th & 8th grade parents couldn't stop thanking us for such a great night. Way to throw a party-- Shawn, Brandee, Nancy, Shelene, Cecilia, Corey and Rod! #ProudPrincipal
People often ask, where do you get your energy, how can you still be standing it's May? Look around, I get my energy from you and these fabulous kids. What a year and what an amazing group of educators I get to lead. You may not know it, but each of you, teaches me, everyday.
Eight days left to make a difference! Keep counting down with purpose Patriots!

Congratulations Ms. Chip - Our Absolute Favorite Superhero!!
Ms. Chip of the House Rawlinson, the First of her Name, Queen of Minions, Khaleesi of the United Patriots, Protector of Oxford Commas, Lady Regent of the Parts of Speech, Tamer of Uncanned Worms, and Mother of Dragons (and Superheroes). This Rawlinson legend has had an impact on anyone who has spent more than a month in our building. Ms. Chip is an undisputed force of good, a keen wit, a loving educator, and a role model to teachers and students alike. How she does it, nobody knows. This building will feel empty without you. Thanks for all you do and all that you have done for us.
