Current events
By Allison, 5th Grader
Hello Bobcats! This week for current events we are going to tell you about some ways that people are helping our planet. We had Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22nd, and we heard that lots of Bobcats have been doing things for Earth Day and Earth Week!
Some things that Bobcats have been doing are recycling, and taking shorter showers, but there were also very creative things as well! For instance, someone made a lava lamp out of plastic bottles. Isabella McMahon, a fifth grader made an earth out of a soccer ball, and the earth holds a sign that says to save the planet! We love all the creative ideas that you Bobcats have!
Remember, if you have any fun events to share, contact Ms. LaManna at lamannael@northvilleschools.org

HABITS IN ACTION
Habit 3 - Put First Things First
Hi Bobcats! As we continue reminding ourselves about each habit, we come to week 3 and Habit 3 - Put First Thing First. For most of us when we think of this habit we think about work first then play. This Habit is also about thinking about what is most important in our lives and making sure we have time for those ‘big rocks.’ Yes, school work and learning is important, and so is family, friends, and even our pets. When we know what is important not just for today, but in our whole lives, it helps us to find balance and make sure there is always time for the most important things first.
What is most important to you Bobcats?

Learn Something New - How to Make Paper Ninja Stars
Submitted by Quinn Guthrie, 4th Grader
Learning doesn’t just have to be about school work, the most fun we have learning is when we learn about something we are interested in. This could be reading or math, science or history, even writing. It can also be learning a new recipe, how to cook or create a code or robot. Always keep learning and your mind will always keep growing.

Mrs. Caudill's Read Aloud
This week Mrs. Caudill started reading a new book. The book is Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. Ms. Funke has written several books our upper elementary students may be familiar with including Inkheart and The Thief Lord. The book appeals to all ages, from early elementary to adult. It is a story about friendship, adventure and the true meaning of home.
The story is about Firedrake, Ben and their furry friend, Sorrel, who are in search of the mythical place where dragons can live in peace forever. Together, they embark on a journey that takes them to magical lands where they meet marvelous creatures - and one ruthless villain. Along the way, they discover allies in odd places, courage they didn't know they had, and a hidden destiny that changes everything.
