Weekly Family Update # 18
December 15, 2019
Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families,
‘Tis the season for lots of performances and activities! My admin team and I had the privilege of watching our Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Select Ensemble perform at the Del Norte High School Performing Arts Center, and the 6th Grade Band perform here at Oak Valley the following day; both concerts were amazing. Our Falcon musicians performed a variety of music at both concerts. I am very proud of their hard work preparing and practicing each day. Thank you so much to Mr. Nowak and Mr. Hernandez for providing such a rewarding instrumental music program for our students.
This week the performances continue with our Choir Concert on Tuesday 12/17 in the Oak Valley MPR beginning on 7pm and the Orchestra Winter Concert on Wednesday 12/18 in the Del Norte High School Performing Arts Center also beginning at 7pm, I hope to see you all there!
I visited many classrooms this past week and saw some fantastic learning happening. Science experiments using many different types of manipulatives; document based writing analyses, art projects, brain/memory training activities, students engineering product designs, groups of students performing their rehearsed dances in PE, lessons on digital citizenship, students setting progress goals, and students participating in the Hour of Code, just to name a few. Many Falcons went home with tired brains on Friday afternoon. One week until Winter Break!
Thank so much to everyone who was able to help with our Adopt-a-Family program. I really appreciate how this community comes together to help each other. A big thanks to Mrs. Hotaling, Mrs. Stromberg, Mrs. Enyedi and Mrs. Stratton for organizing the event as well as all our PTSA volunteers who helped us organize and collect items. Thank you to our community for supporting our Falcon Families.
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!
Beaming with Falcon Pride,
Mr. Young

OV Falcon Foundation - Help Wanted!
Love party planning? Have a secret desire to create photo booth backdrops or hand-lettered invitations? Want to use your talents to help Oak Valley Falcon Foundation? Then we want YOU!
The Oak Valley Falcon Foundation is looking for a committee chair and volunteers to plan the Spring 2020 Fundraiser. The money raised at this event will allow continued funding in the areas of STEAM, school safety, and social-emotional growth for our students. The needs and wishes of our staff are many, and important to our entire school, so this fundraiser is vital to meeting their requests. We hope you’ll say Yes! so we don’t have to tell them No.
While this has been a dinner/auction in years past, as the chair, you’d have the ability to bring fresh new ideas. Always wanted a kickball tournament? A Casino Night? Now’s your chance! For additional information, or to volunteer to help our school, contact Foundation President, David Li at ovfalconfoundation@gmail.com .
Thank YOU for supporting Oak Valley Middle School!
