A Message from the Principal
Dear Millbridge Families,
I hope you have enjoyed your summer and you are relaxed and recharged and ready to start a new school year. Even though this school year will look very different our staff is energized and dedicated to an excellent social, emotional and academic school year. We look forward to working with you and your children. You can expect a welcome letter from your child’s teacher in the near future.
Below are a few reminders to help ease the transition back to school during this unusual time.
- Set up a workspace at home for your child. Allowing your child to help in this process will assist him/her to enjoy working on their remote learning days.
Practice wearing masks with your child to build up their stamina. You may want to allow your child to pick out a special mask that they are more inclined to wear. Praise them for increasing the time each day. Practice pulling their mask down for a quick break.
Practice wearing their mask in the car, especially if he/she will be riding the bus.
Practice silently counting to 20 while washing hands.
Reestablish routines! Being back to a full day of school will be challenging. Set regular bedtime routines, wake up the same time everyday and get dressed even on remote learning days.
Have conversations with your child about how school will look different if they have been in school before. Everyone will be wearing masks, desks will be separated, and in some cases plastic dividers will be used. Lunch will be in the classroom and recess will look different as well.
Student drop-off begins at 8:50 AM after the first bell rings. Preschool and Kindergarten will enter through door #19 located directly after the bus loop. First grade will enter through the main entrance and Second grade will enter through the gym doors, #2. Parents should not gather in or around the school building. Please help us ensure a safe and orderly arrival by dropping off your child quickly.
Dismissal will begin at 3:20 PM, at which time all students will be escorted to the area designated for parent pickup, placed on their bus, or sent to Prime Time. For parents picking their child up, you will need to present government issued identification or Fast Pass and sign your child out.
At Millbridge, we put an emphasis on student safety. Therefore, all students will be placed on the bus or in Prime Time automatically, unless we receive prior written notification from a parent or legal guardian. If you would like to pick your child up from school, please send in a note with your child or email the office at MBoffice@delranschools.org before 10:00 AM. Please do not send emails to your child's teacher with a change for the same day as they may not have the opportunity to check their email before dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.
We are so excited for a brand new school year at Millbridge!
