Staying Connected

Sunshine day

It has been a challenging week as we grieve the loss of our beloved secretary, Mrs. Jeannine Duquette and support her family during this difficult time. Jeannine was such a gentle, sweet and patient person who helped anyone needing her assistance. She was a ray of sunshine at Woodland and her favorite color was yellow!

In her memory, we are designating Friday, March 5 as Sunshine Day at Woodland. We encourage staff and students to wear yellow on this day.

Something to Lift the Spirits

On Tuesday, February 23, second grade student, Khloe Callahan was being dismissed early from school. What she didn't know was that her father, Chris Callahan, who had just returned from a month long deployment in Washington, D.C., was the one picking her up. We were able to capture this moment and with the family's permission, share with you. In a time when we have all been stretched to our limits, may your spirits be lifted during this difficult time.

Chris is a Diesel Technician with the 1166TC in the Army National Guard and has a longer deployment coming up. Thank you Chris for your service. This special moment is one we will never forget.

Reminder: Yearbook Pictures for Remote Students

Wednesday, March 3

Plans are set for our remote students to come to Woodland to have their picture taken by Christine Greco, parent and PTO board member, for the school's yearbook. Grade level time slots are scheduled, but we can be flexible. If there are two or more children in your family, then come to the time that works best for you.

Grade 2 1:00-1:30

Grade 1 1:30-2:00

Kindergarten 2:00-2:30

Preschool 2:30-3:00

Pictures will be taken outside in front of the school. As you arrive, drive along the backside of the parking lot and pull up to the front of the building. Christine will photograph one family at a time, so stay in your car until it is your child/children's turn. Parents can help expedite the process by assisting their child with coat and mask removal.

If necessary, there will be a make-up day for pictures or families can opt to email a picture of their child to pics4pawspto@gmail.com

Solutions to Solving problems

This month, our counselors, Mrs. Rigby and Ms. Levit, are focusing on teaching students ways they can solve problems. Second grade student, Hadileigh Ward, assembled this bulletin board as a reminder for students.

The week before vacation break, Mrs. Markiewicz's class wanted to share their love for Mrs. Rigby and all that she does for them everyday, so they made her pictures of thanks and surprised her with them before their SEL lesson.

Mrs. Garvey's class had to vote on which coffee mug they wanted her to use for the day! After the vote they had some conversation on comparing amounts (more/less/equal too) and even shared some giggles about which mug had the most capacity, because they all knew, Mrs. Garvey was secretly hoping that the mug with the MOST capacity would win!!!! The smiley faces you see represent each student vote.

Wheel Of Fortune

Mrs. Abbe's kindergarten remote class had a great time playing Wheel of Fortune!

Round 1 was "CVC WORDS THAT RHYME". Round 2 was "Words We Know." They even had a toss up round and that category was Book. I figured it out. Can you?
