November - A Month of Thanks
Thanksgiving Break - A Time to Make Memories of a Lifetime
Students and staff have been anxiously awaiting the Thanksgiving Break. This is an important time for recharging, refocusing, and reflecting. The first semester is coming to a close in a few short weeks when we return from break. The month of December is traditionally busy and full of activities but there are still lessons to learn, exams to take and assignments to finish. So before the hustle and bustle of the last few days of the semester, we should all take the time to think about all we have to be thankful for. Take the time this week to have lunch with a friend that you haven't seen in awhile, spend time with a family member making a special memory, perform a random act of kindness, volunteer to help someone less fortunate. All of these selfless acts will make someone else's day but best of all, it will create memories of a lifetime that will sustain us through the tough times.
From my heart to our FamiLE, I hope you have a Thanksgiving Break full of memories of a lifetime.

November Students of the Month
Chloe Hill and Max Geiser
Chloe Hill - Chloe is a current LEHS Junior. She has participated in Academic Decathlon and Octathlon and the Lobo Marching Band all three years at LEHS. Chloe has been accepted to the NASA’s High School Aerospace Scholars program. Students in the program are able to learn about different STEM related fields of study they might want to pursue in college. Following a series of online lessons, the highest achieving students will be invited to an all-expenses-paid, week-long visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston during the summer. Good luck Chloe! Here are what Chloe's teachers had to say about her contributions in their classrooms -
Ms. Adrienne Meade - Chloe is an amazing student; from her dedication to her studies to her leadership in band, and especially how she is a leader amongst her peers. In AP Research, Chloe often takes the time to coach the AP Seminar students and help them understand the concepts of this course. She is patient, kind, and hardworking. She has even helped me become better at understanding logical reasoning puzzles! Chloe is so deserving of this award! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her.
Mrs. Marcia Gaston - Chloe is a student leader in the class and always has a smile on her face. I appreciate her hard work ethic and how she actively participates. What an awesome young lady!! I'm so proud of her.
Mr. Frank Felice - Chloe served as a junior Drum Major this year with the Lobo Band. She took on this responsibility and gave it 100% to help our band program be the best it can be. She gave selflessly of her time and energy to help other band members be successful. Without ever complaining, she demonstrated what it means to be a selfless leader in our band. Chloe is a good musician and a model student for our band and school.
Mr. Jason Hiller - Chloe is doing great work in academic decathlon. She has been a true leader by developing notes on all the material in our packets. If you get a chance, then you should also ask her about her skills at rock, paper, scissors in order to break a tie. Academic Decathlon would not be as successful without Chloe.
Mrs. Julie Brown - Chloe is a wonderful student. She is very intelligent as well as such a caring person. When I needed a student to help out at Chart your course, she quickly volunteered and did such an awesome job. I know she is determined and has her goals in place, and because of all of her amazing characteristics, she will achieve them.
Ms. Hollie Henry - Max is the perfect choice for Student if the Month. He is motivated, hard-working, and has a great attitude in BIM. What makes him stand out from the rest are his special qualities. He problem solves on his own, and is a natural leader. Max takes it upon himself to research the solution to computer issues, and has always been successful in BIM. Additionally, he is the first student willing to help others who are struggling. I know he will be a big success in life as well as in the classroom!
Ms. Florence Agbota - Max is an excellent student. He is the best student I have ever had. He is the student that every teacher would like to have in their class. I have had him since French 1 and he is awesome. There no words to describe his behavior nor his work habits. He is a perfect student. He is hardworking and a gentleman of a unique kind.
Mrs. Jessi Vericker - I have had the pleasure of being Max’s teacher his freshman and junior year. When I think about the ideal student; honest, trustworthy, determined, prepared, empathic to others, involved and overall enthusiastic towards school, that would be Max. Max always has a happy disposition, willing to help, and great outlook on life. Where Max really shines is his compassionate heart. He has always gone out of his way to make others know he cares, not just for his peers but teachers as well. He truly is a class act.
Mr. Brad Howard - I'm so happy for Max! He is truly a credit to our school. Max makes an impact in my classroom by consistently modeling the Lobo values of excellence, integrity, and respect. He brings his best game to class every day and elevates the performance of other students by doing so. No matter what the distractions of the day are, I can always count on him to be engaged, inquisitive, and goal-driven. When class or group discussions bog down, Max typically helps by stepping in with a comment or question that challenges his fellow AP students to think about topics at a deeper level or in a novel way. And to top it all off, Max is able to do all of the above in a relaxed and amusing way that shows other students that achieving doesn’t have to be boring and tedious.
Mrs. Dawn Ramirez - Max is the kind of young man that you wish every student could be like...he has a smile on his face every day when he arrives to my room, is the most soft-spoken, yet commanding presence in the room. I always look forward to seeing Max everyday, as he is an outstanding student who strives for nothing but the best!
Mr. Kale Stubblefield - Max is a leader in the classroom. He leads by example and his work ethic inspires others to do their best. I have had students tell me they work harder, and I have seen them work harder and do better in class when working with Max. He is definitely deserving of this honor.
Mrs. Julie Brown - Max is such a positive person to have in class. I can always count on his smiling face even if he doesn't like the concept we are studying that day. And although math may not be his favorite subject, no one could tell by his demeanor or attitude. I really appreciate his leadership and willingness to go to the board to present problems.

Healthy Habits Lead to a Healthy Life
LEHS Partnering with the American Heart Association for Healthier Lifestyles
We are proud to partner with the American Heart Association for the American Heart Challenge at Little Elm High School! Through this program, students are encouraged to take heart healthy challenges and raise money for The American Heart Association. All money raised will go towards life-saving research in the areas of heart disease and stroke, education, and advocacy.
So far, 142 students have taken the challenge to say no to smoking/vaping—just one of the three challenges students can take while participating in the program—and we have raised $690 to fight heart disease—the leading cause of death globally.
We raised $2500 last year and are looking to beat that number but need your help!
Many students have already signed up for our school’s online fundraising page! If you receive a text message or email from a student about American Heart Challenge, just click on the link in the message to donate! If your student hasn’t already signed up, go to heart.org/americanheartchallenge to sign up for our school’s online fundraising page and donate!
We are excited to partner with the American Heart Association for this event! Our school and students benefit from the money raised and the resources provided through American Heart Challenge! We hope you will support our students as they help others and raise awareness for heart disease and stroke.

High school students often do not want to participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. The Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program is the standard used by many programs to qualify students for financial assistance. Even if a student never uses their eligibility in the lunchroom, they can benefit greatly in other areas if they qualify for the Lunch Program. Eligibility has to be reestablished each year. You can fill out the application here. We highly suggest that all families fill out an application to see if you qualify.

Report Harmful, Harassing, and Bullying Behavior
LEISD has an on-line tool called "Anonymous Alerts" that students, parents, and teachers can use to report harmful, harassing, and bullying type behaviors. Anonymous Alerts bullying reporting mobile app helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressures are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Anonymous Alerts encourages students, parents and staff to quickly, easily, and anonymously report bullying, cyber-bullying, gang-related issues, and other sensitive topics through private messages to school officials by building. All reports remain completely anonymous even during a two-way email conversation, although submitters have the option to reveal their identity if they prefer to have a person-to-person discussion.
