Public school enrollment around the nation, state, and region has been steadily decreasing for the past 5 years, as it is the case for Tornillo ISD. Decreased enrollment poses a variety of challenges for school operations with funding being at the top of the list. Enrollment projections for the 23-24 academic year is 780 students, a significant decline from 1025 students in 2018-2019. Basically what this means is that we have to do more with less resources. In an effort to continue to have a balanced budget and protect the endless opportunities being offered to students from PK-High School while staying competitive with regional salaries for staff, we have to make some grade level configurations and campus relocation for the 23-24 academic school year. In preparation for $1 million budget reductions due to declining enrollment and low student daily attendance, the Tornillo Independent School District will need to make the following changes:

• 6th Grade will be served at Tornillo Intermediate School
• 7th-8th Grade will be served at Tornillo High School
• Headstart-2nd Grade will relocate to the Jr High Campus

There will be several parent/guardian meetings (Locations, Dates, & Times Listed Below) beginning this week at each of the campuses for you all to attend as this will be a topic that will be presented.
