Message from the Principal
Dear Forest View Families,
I am completing my 38th year in education. I have worked 13 years in the Shawnee Mission School District, 5 years in the Piper School District, and 20 years in the Olathe School District. I have thoroughly enjoyed every stop along the way but none more than Olathe.
As I approach the end of ten wonderful years of being your principal, I would like to share the news with you that this will be my last year at Forest View. I have chosen to take early retirement. My future plans are to begin a second career where I can use all the skills I have learned as an elementary school principal in a different role.
It was a very hard decision for me as I always knew it would be when it came time to consider leaving such a wonderful place to come to work each day. Working with the students, staff, and parents at Forest View has been one of the top highlights of my entire 38 years in the field- an unbelievable experience which I will never forget.
I will surely miss being in contact with each and every one of you and wish you all the best. While I am still principal, I will continue to work hard to support the students, staff, and families as you transition to a new leader. I will always treasure my fond memories of the many students who have attended Forest View since it opened in 2009 as well as the special families I have come to know. I am confident that the staff will continue to work tirelessly for the children of Forest View in the years to come.
Thank you for an incredible ten years that has brought great joy to my life.
Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be a Leader. This is Forest View.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heck

Annual Survey Reaches Out for Parent Input
The district's annual Parent Survey was recently emailed to all families. Parents of all students, K-12, will have an opportunity to provide feedback on a variety of topics via the online survey which is active through March 1.
- Click the links below to take the survey.
- Open the English survey online
- Open the Spanish survey online
Districtwide results will be analyzed by the Superintendent's Leadership Team and a report will be provided to the Board of Education.
- The anonymous survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.
- If parents receive the link from multiple schools, they only need to complete ONE survey. The survey is designed for one response per household.
- A paper version of the survey (English and Spanish) is available in each school office to any family that does not have email access or is uncomfortable with the online version.
- If parents have a specific concern, they are encouraged to speak directly with someone, such as the person(s) with whom they have the concern, a child's classroom teacher, or the principal.
