Mrs. Walldorf's Homeroom
Happy New Year!
I want to begin by thanking all of you for your generosity, treats, gifts, and notes! It meant so much to me. I had a wonderful break and I am glad to be back with all of my students! I hope your break was also wonderful.
Preparing for Weather Test and Science EOQ:
We are very close to wrapping up our unit on weather and preparing for the Science EOQ. We will have our Weather Unit Test next Tuesday and the EOQ is the following Friday. As your students prepare for both of these, they have a lot of good study materials in their binders. The 2nd Quarter Study Guide, guided notes from Disc Ed and Coach Book readings are all good for reading with your student and quizzing them. In addition, the Discovery Ed Techbook and videos are good to look over as well.
Science Extra Credit Assignments:
Many students completed the two assignments over the break for extra credit. If your student has not completed these, they are also a good way for them to check what they know and what areas they need to work on; and I am extending the window to turn those in until next Monday, Jan. 8th. There are two assignments. The first is a packet that they must review with someone then complete the first page explaining how they did. This is in their science binders. The second is a practice test in Discovery Ed under their assignments. They take it online and submit it.
Please see below for some announcements and dates to put on your calendars.
Today, I sent home information about Middle School Information Night. This will take place on Thursday, Jan. 11th at 6 pm at Whitaker. Hope to see you there!
Wishing your families a blessed 2018!

You would not believe how quickly we go through these, especially this time of year. If anyone would want to donate to our class, I promise they will not go to waste. I bought a container yesterday; but with all of the switching classes we do in 5th grade and sharing of desks, we will go through them quickly. If you are wondering if I am a germ freak...yes, I guess I would have to say so. :) Thank you!
Pencils and Earbuds...
This is also a time of year when students might be running low on school supplies. The only two things I have noticed with some students are pencils and earbuds.
