Scope and Sequence Documents
Clear Learning Targets
Clear Learning Targets vary from middle to high school. But each contains the state standard, essential and extended understanding, concepts and skills, prior and future knowledge, I Can statements, common misconceptions, and helpful resources (textbook and others).
What Math Courses Do We Offer?
What Textbooks Do We Use?
All K-12 students have digital access to their textbooks.
Students in grades K-8 have consumable books that they may write in. Teachers usually rip out sections or chapters at a time, rather than give students the entire book at one time. Grade 6, 7, and 8 are titled Middle School Course 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
High school is a bit different. Teachers have class sets of books, rather than each student having a book. Each school library has 30 copies of each book if a student would like to sign one out to take home.
Textbooks are automatically connected to accounts based on schedules in Infinite Campus. Schedules must be entered correctly for this to work properly.

New 2019-2020: Access books through Clever
Clever is available on school computers and at the following address:
http://www.clever.com/in/columbuscity
Get on this site right away! Complete lessons are available. Resources in PDF and DOC format are right at your fingertips. Lessons contain videos with real teachers explaining the topic. Even parents can view these videos on student accounts.

Meet Your New Friend ALEKS!
During the first week of school, our office does what's called a "bulk upload". We use schedules from Infinite Campus to set up teacher and student accounts. Classes are automatically set up for teachers. Teachers can view student login information from their Class Roster.
Here are some quick notes:
- After the bulk upload, teachers need to manually add new students to their courses.
- Teachers can move students from one of their classes to another class.
- Teachers in each building have been identified to move students from one teacher to another, print building level reports, etc.
- When students come into a class from another CCS school, contact Steve Hiner to move that student account over. Otherwise, the student will be forced to start all over.

Do We Accelerate Students?
- Student earned a 230 or higher on BOY MAP
- Student earned between 224-229 on BOY MAP and all 3s and 4s on report card last year in math
- Student earned a 4 or 5 on the Math 5 AIR test
- Student taking Math 6 as a fifth grader
- Student is identified as G-T in either math or superior cognition
- Student is recommended to test by teacher
Students are tested in their own school in mid-March. Successful students may elect to take Math 7 and Math 8 during their grade 8 year. They may also be able to learn Math 7 in a summer school program.
For complete information, please visit http://www.ccsoh.us/accmath.
Note: This program is different from the acceleration process that the Gifted and Talented department performs.
Math and Science Design Challenge
The Integrated Pathway
During Integrated Math I and II, students learn algebra, geometry, and data analysis with probability. Recently, ODE realigned the standards to make Integrated Math III the same course as Algebra 2.
AIR Support
We created many sample tests that you can use as Problems of the Day. Students should also practice the lessons on InfOhio to become familiar with online testing.
All of these documents, tips, and links can be found on the Assessments tab of the Math page on the CCS website. The direct link is: https://www.ccsoh.us/Page/2687
Credit Flex
Most math students choose the "test out" option. We are looking at adding a demonstration component in the future.
