Clarks Creek students have PRIDE!

Ensuring that ALL students carry themselves with pride and confidence beyond our doors as honorable, skillful learners and thinkers, ready to enrich our world.

SCHOOL GOALS - What will you do IN APRIL to get our students there? It's almost time!

  • 40% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn the maximum number of points of each problem solving question. This is an increase of 2.9% over last year’s scores.

  • 80% of all students who take the ISTEP assessment will earn a score of 4, 5, or 6 on the Writing Applications six-point rubric. This is an increase of 3.6% over last year’s scores.
  • Current fourth grade students will increase scores by at least 3% in the subcategory of Algebra & Functions, scoring 88% or higher.

Dear Staff,

At this time of year, when the trees are blooming and budding and the flowers begin to peek their green heads back out from the previously desolate soil, we also think about something that often doesn't seem quite as inspiring - spring cleaning! Spring gives us a perfect time for creating a "fresh start" in so many ways, including in our classrooms! I ran across this article and thought it was a great one. (This same author also has a mini-lesson for students on what it means to have a "clean desk," including a diagram, which some might also find helpful!)

Some of us naturally purge things and keep only the few things that are most vital to our teaching, and others of us might be more likely to be found on an episode of "Hoarding: Buried Alive"! Many of you are probably like me - somewhere between the two. Some interesting points are made in the article about how some of the stress we feel may be attributed to all of our "stuff." See what you think of the information in this article and whether there are some things that can be pruned from your collection that would actually make life in your classroom easier!

Have a super week!

To-Do List

  • Bring a picture of yourself feeling like a "prince or princess" for our new staff bulletin board in the lounge!

  • The ISTEP schedule has come out in a separate email. Please review it carefully with your team as different grade levels are impacted by switches in special class times and location of special classes in a few situations.
  • This week, Burst groups will continue as usual. Next week, our Title assistants will be assisting classroom teachers in grades K-2 in completing EoY assessments. During the weeks of ISTEP testing, beginning on the 27th, our general education assistants will largely be used to help proctor ISTEP tests. If you have one of these assistants coming to your room on a usual basis, please make plans that don't require their presence, as they will likely not be there. I'll send you the exact schedule for their coverage as proctors soon.

AP Interviews - To Be Continued...

We held two of our three interviews with our assistant principal candidates on Friday. Unfortunately, our third candidate had a family medical emergency and she needed to postpone her interview with us. We will complete the last interview early this week. The two we met with on Friday were outstanding candidates and we anticipate having a difficult decision - which is a great problem to have!
